Guest guest
I need some feedback from the group about supplements. I started helping a friend get off her Levoxyl. She had been taking Levoxyl for 10 years. I initially started her with Iodoral, detoxified iodine and vitamin c crystals (from Trader Joes) mixed with baking soda. She was up and down the first month and then I realized I needed to get more information. I joined the iodine group and also started reading information from Dr. Flechas and Dr. Brownstein. I increased her dosage of Iodoral and realized when you are adding iodine, it is also best to add 1)Vitamin C 2)Magnesium and 3)Selenium. She had a bottle of Biotics brand pills of Vitamin C and Magnesium on hand, so she has added those in three times a day with her iodoral. She is feeling much better, but still isn't quite 100%. Okay so my question is more about the 1)Vitamin C 2)Magnesium and 3)Selenium and the fact that WAP and numerous articles lately have touched on synthetic vitamins doing more harm than good. Any opinions on whether it is better to take synthetics versions with the iodine or should she skip them all together? 1) Vitamin C – Better options than the Vitamin C crystals would be Amla C or Acerola, is this correct? Does it matter if you get the pills or the powder version? 2)Magnesium – Dr. Flechas or Brownstein, I can't remember who, suggested Magnesium Oxide. After doing a little research this doesn't seem like a very natural form. Any suggestions are appreciated. I am wanting the most natural form available. 3) Selenium – I have read about many different kinds and am completely confused. SE- Methyl-Selenocysteine caught my attention as Jerry Brunetti mentioned it in one of his talks. Is there a more natural form of Selenium? I noticed my Concentrace Trace Mineral Drops have 250 mg of magnesium in 1/2 tsp, is this a possible source? I see it also has listed selenium, but the amount is too small to list on the bottle. After reading these links about synthetic vitamins, I am torn. http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_3697.cfm This article directed me to NOS for supplements that are " whole foods based " , but it appears they don't have a listing yet at (http://www.nosg.org/) It seems this Doctors' Research site has products they clam are 100% whole food supplements, however it appears you must a a Dr. to order from them. Does anyone know anything about their products? http://www.doctorsresearch.com/articles4.html Standard Process, I have heard has top notch vitamins, but once again you need a Dr. to get them, correct? Trying to find supplements on the internet that I trust seems very difficult, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks everyone for your input.
