Guest guest
Hello, Saw messages from Yossie and JanMarie on atrial fib message board regarding amiodarone. Just started taking it two days ago after 15 years on verappimil (sp?) and lanoxin. Went to ER two nights ago and they recommended this new med. My cardio. gave me the rx and I would love to chat with others in similar situation. Please respond. I'm brand new on computer, so bear with me. Was diagnosed with SVT 15 years ago, but now the breakthrough attacks seem to be mostly atrial fib. Sometimes only happens once or twice a year. Guest guest
Hey: I've been on amiodarone about 9 months, 200mg per day. Worked terrific until about a month ago and then I started having periodic bouts of afib that have occurred more and more often. The list of side effects of amiodarone is lengthy and scary. However, most of them seem tied to higher dosage levels (400 mg and up) and to duration of amiodarone treatment (i.e. my cardiologist knows of no patient who's been able to stay on 400mg or higher of amiodarone for more than 5 years. He says even five years is relatively rare at high dosage levels.) It appears that I'm slipping back into what could be termed " permanent afib " despite the amiodarone. Good luck with it. It's the only thing that has worked for me at all. > Hello, > Saw messages from Yossie and JanMarie on atrial fib message board > regarding amiodarone. > Just started taking it two days ago after 15 years on verappimil > (sp?) and lanoxin.
