Guest guest
You do not have to follow the menu plan. They mostly for guidelines. You can eat anything you want. They do recommend though that you have a protein with each meal and at least 1/2 cup of veggies for breakfast and at least 2 cups of veggies for lunch and dinner. you can have 2 cups of dairy a day, either milk or yogurt or plain soy milk. Carol Just Salads for Lunch? Hello,I'm on day 5 of phase 1. I noticed in the SBD book it mainly lists some sort of salad for lunch. I'm not a real salad person, at least not for the main part of the meal. For lunch I've been having a salad every day along with either 1/2 lb. of ground sirloin or a boneless chicken breast. Is that okay? Also, I've read somewhere in these posts that you're limited to how much milk you can have in a day. I'm using 1% milk with my decaf coffee and also having non-fat plain yogurt as one of my snacks. I don't drink milk otherwise. Is there a limit to how many plain yogurts I can have and how many ounces? Thanks,ConniePS. I discovered that I actually like or prefer, now, just plain oil and vinegar for my salad dressing. I've been sticking pretty close to the diet, but my little cheats have been having more cashews than allowed and last night I had one extra fugesicle. Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. The South Beach Diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats-the good ones-and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and bad fats. Guest guest
It seems on phase 1, you have a salad plus a lean meat/protein for lunch so you're doing fine. About milk, I found today that the official sbd page has an " updates " link at the top, don't have to be a member to access it. You can now have milk in phase I baby in lap, one handed typing Betsy Just Salads for Lunch? > Hello, > > I'm on day 5 of phase 1. Guest guest
Thanks, Carol. That helps. Connie > You do not have to follow the menu plan. They mostly for guidelines. Guest guest
No, you don't need to restrict yourself to salads for lunch. If you go to the files section on our website at yahoo groups, you'll find a handy guideline about how much of each food group to eat at each meal. The file name is " How to adapt your meal plan; Phase 1 " . For lunch, Dr. A. suggests 2 cups of Phase 1 veggies (if you're in Phase 1). As others have said, it does not have to be lettuce. It's important not to get into a rut with our meal plans, but to be creative and be willing to try new things. Donna
