Hi Yaall

Robin mentions fish sauce in her recipe -- Sally Fallon tells you how to

make fish sauce in " Nourishing Traditions " -- not for the faint hearted

never had the courage to try it -- evidently it was what ketchup was before

commericalism got a hold of it and was off the scale as far as nutrients

were concerned.

Hmmm. I wonder if it's the same? There's no tomatoes in the stuff

I buy. The ingredients are: water, anchovy extract, salt and sugar.

The brand is Eagle Star and I bought it at a tiny asian market in

Klamath Falls, Oregon. I've bought other brands in other asian

markets in other cities. It's pretty common in Thai and Vietnamese

cuisine.

It's flavor differs from plain anchovies, probably because it has no

fat in it. (All the flavor of fish without any of the benefits?

Hmmm. I'm not giving a very good sales pitch here am I?) Actually,

it does have protien in it. And I promise you, when mixed in a

dressing or sauce it really adds an extra something. Be brave! Be

bold! Cast aside the old soy sauce and try something different!

Check out your Asian grocery stores. They sell it.

Subject: Fish Sauce

Does any one know how to get a hold or real fish sauce? Is there a

place in land or Virginia that sells it? -Charlie
