Any advice on elderly person who is becoming irrational? with response

Hi all,

This is off topic, but I'm hoping someone can suggest a book or website to help.

My husband's cousin is coping with her mom, who just suffered a stroke, and her

dad, who is becoming irrational . . . floating around town threatening people,

angry outbursts, etc. I suggested to her that the cause might be biological and

to see about getting him to begin Omega 3, but don't know where to go from

there.

Can you steer me anywhere?

Dear Jane,

The first thing that comes to mind for me is that this man is taking statin

drugs for cholesterol(do a Google search for statin drugs and confusion,

personality change). The second thing that comes to mind is has this man

recently begun or discontinued a pharmaceutical drug?

It's rare for this behavior to just suddenly appear out of nowhere. I'd be

looking for the cause if I was his child.
