Guest guest
No, the shakes and bars are not recommended. You are supposed to have full food meals with a protein and veggie at each meal. If you feel you must use the shakes they are supposed to count as a treat and be your 75 calorie sweet treat. I'm still a pretty good egg eater at breakfast but you can have anything from the list of foods to enjoy. Scout around for recipes. You can have leftover dinner, ham and cheese rollups, anything you can come up with. It doesn't have to be a traditional breakfast. Carol Newbie Here! Atkins Shake? Breakfast Ideas? I'm going to try to start this new way of life today. But, I really need to go grocery shopping and probably won't have the chance for a couple days. So, I'll have to use what I have around here. I have about 3/4 of a can of Atkins shake mix...will that fit in? Is it ok to use that for a meal? I'll head to the bookstore to get the book this weekened. For now, I'm just trying to ease into it.What is everyone's favorite breakfast? That seems like it would be the hardest meal to do. I imagine eggs get old after awhile!RJReminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. Guest guest
Meal replacements are a no on the beach. SB is about whole foods that are good for us and to learn how to eat for the rest of our lives and the shakes/bars do not fir into that. Try to eat foods in their most natural state, fresh veggies, lean meats...etc. I read the book and re read the book and took it food shopping with me for weeks....it was a great source of information to me. -Beth Newbie Here! Guest guest
The Atkins Shakes (and anything processed and packaged) are not okay'd for SBD. They tend to have trans fats or hidden sugars in them. One of my favorite breakfasts is to have cottage cheese with cinnamon and a small amt of sweetner. It tastes alot like a Cinnobon from the mall. I also will put some flavor in my mornings with flavored coffees.Marilyn Daub wrote: A nice asparagus and cheese omelet is one of my favorite breakfasts!!
