I am 4 weeks back on my meds and still have moments when my energy seems to drop precipitously, then I seem to recharge. I don't know if it is hormone levels, depression from having deal with having cancer, simply being tired, or a combination of all the above. Hang in there.... Guest guest
Hi! It's only been 6 months so what you're feeling is probably normal. Surgery is a major trauma on your body, and it takes a little while to bounce back 100%. Also, your doc said your TSH was fine, but as thycans we are supposed to be " suppressed " which can give you hyper symptoms which, like being hypo, can also make you tired. Give yourself some time, rest when you need to, and before you know it you'll be feeling much better! - Gayle North Salem, NY TT 1990 RAI (125) 3/15/02 Coming out of hypo... > HI, I went through surgery 6 months ago for Folicullar Cancer of > thyroid and now on synthroid 175 mg. Guest guest
Thanks for your response. Is levoxyl the only hormone drug you have used post tyca, or di you start with some else and find this better? Tom

Guest guest
I have no medical basis for saying the following, just my own experience, but I found the first 6-12 months after my TT, my energy levels were inconsistient. I'd just run out of gas and be very tired, my TSH was a little too suppressed at undetectable, but as I've now been on levoxyl for 2 1/2 years and am now at a level of .01 TSH, i find that my energy is more consistient (actually back to the way it was before this whole thyca dance started). I don't know, but suspect its a bit of both getting the TSH levels just right - not too high not too low, and my body getting used to the levoxyl. barb TT8/99 RAI 4/00 Clean Scan 12/00 new scan 5/3 > HI, I went through surgery 6 months ago for Folicullar Cancer of > thyroid and now on synthroid 175 mg. Guest guest
Hi, I had surgery two years ago and yes you're right the engery levels do changes from time to time. My doctor tells me that I'm never going to be like before. I guess the pill can only do so much. I am now in the beginning of menopause that was well brought on by the surgery. Thats it for now. Taking a short nap sometimes helps. good luck. Guest guest
I've read that some people don't do well on T4 alone, and need T3 in combination with T4. This seemed to be a recently emerging view, and not all endos will subscribe to it. Guest guest
T3 = Cytomel T4 = Synthroid The internet has lots of info on these. > Re: Re: Energy Levels > > > YOu are on a new lingo to me. What is T3 and T4? Tom > >
Guest guest
I used synthroid for the first year and a half and my endo switched me to levoyxl for the past year, i didn't notice any difference between them, we've fiddled with my doses for the whole time (i was orignally on 100 which gave a tsh of 6.3 then 125 which gave a tsh of 1.3 then 150 tsh -> .5 then 175 tsh -> undetectable then i had rai i stayed with 175 then he switched me to 150 and my tsh was .007 and i switched from synthroid to levoxyl and my tsh is just about .01 which is right where it should be, and for me thats a good level energy wise as well.. not so hyper that i get tired out from running too hot, but still properly suppressed barb > Thanks for your response.
