Hi Jeanne,

Thanks for the welcome. I'm starting to feel a little nervous about the

surgery since the doctor's office called today and moved my day UP! I'm now

scheduled for surgery on July 26th. This is a great group and I'll soon be

joining you on the other side.

Hi Elaine,

Maine.....what a beautiful state! Thanks for your note and welcome. Sounds

like you're doing great! So you had surgery about two weeks ago? How did

you feel after you woke up from the analgesic? How many days were you in the

hospital? Were you able to get up and walk the first day?

Keep in touch. I would like to hear how you're doing. Keep up the great

job!

Hi Jackie!

Congratulations! It amazes me how easy it can be with the right insurance.

Thanks for letting us know!

Hugs,

Newbie....I have my date!

Hi to all of you out there who have provided more support than you'll ever

know. I switched my insurance in June 2002 and have my surgery scheduled

for

July 30, 2002. I have been a 'lurker' for about a month but I'm ready to

come out and take my journey to the other side.

Continued success to all of you!

Jackie - Nerves are normal and they'll be around a lot since your surgery is

coming up quickly. Just try to stay busy and focus your mind on your reason for

having the surgery, not your fears of what may go wrong. You're going to become

thinner and healthier and have a whole new lease on life. You are so brave to

take this step. Don't ever let anyone tell you it's the easy way out, because

it's not. You're gonna do great!

Hi Jeanne,

Thank you for your supportive note. Yes, I will be busy getting everything

in order before my surgery. I'm glad I'll be off a month so that I can get

all the details down. For example: What to drink; vitamins to take; protein

shakes and will I really know what FULL feels like? I'm not worried about

the exercise part of my new life, it's the adjustment to a whole new way of

eating. Right now I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed but I have faith that all

will come into place.

I would appreciate any helpful advice. Thanks!

Jackie- It's normal to feel overwhelmed. This is a huge life-changing surgery,

and there's no going back once it's done. as far as protein and supplements

goes, I highly recommend going to www.vitalady.com. She is our expert on these.

There you can buy protein drink samples to try. That way you can see what you

like before investing in a big container of it. And she also has all the

supplements that we need to take as post-ops. She buys or has made the vitamins

that are easiest for us to absorb. Because we will always have malabsorption

issues. So that's my next bit of advice for you.
