You really have Dr. Alonso!? He's great. I know his wife through Riley

since my son is her patient for asthma. She's the one who referred me.

Long story, but I'll send it to you directly if you want. I like the way

he takes time to listen and how his nurse is always available if I have

questions. He always answers mine in his office when I remember them. (Usually

write down a few.) He has also learned a lot about PLS since seeing me

the first time. I believe you and I have really gotten his interest.

** I've answered these questions in one form or another for you already. You will not find anyone here giving you different answers. They come here for the same reason you did - they are having problems getting off a drug (or several).To be done successfully, it needs to be done with a regular release formula and it needs to be done very slowly.

Somewhere out there there will always be someone who will tell you what you want to hear (just stop taking the drug and everything will be okay). But this will not be factual. As you're already seeing, withdrawal that is done too quickly has repercussions. Though it may look like a flu, it can last for months. The dizziness can last for years.

Get him off the drug slowly and in good health and maintaining him off it will not be a problem.

It really would be best if your son was participating here. Family members' needs are different. They tend to want things a certain way and keep looking for that instead of looking at the overall picture and understanding what it takes to do the withdrawal and recovery. Often, a family member's desires conflict with those of the person taking the drug(s). In most cases, unless a child is a young minor, we work directly with them.
