Have you visited www.obesityhelp.com Great information there. Glad you have joined us! in California Open RNY - 03/29/02 272.5/217 - as of 07/13/02 -55.5 New comer/Money Hello Ladies & Gems!! I am new to the group and doing tons, and tons of research on Gastricbypass. I am soooo hoping to have the surgery. I have my first appointment with a great surgical center here in Utah next tuesday (the 30th of July). Yes,yes I live in Layton, Utah and no I do not have horns!! LOL (just kidding) However, I do not think (although I am certainly going to try) that my insurance will pay for this procedure. So my question here is to those of you who had to pay out of pocket, how did you fund the money for this? I am thinking that most ppl take out a 2nd Morgage or home equity loan. Does anyone here know of a lender that helps fund the surgery? (as sadly I am an apartment dweller) I am looking forward to reading future posts from this community and certainly glad I found all of you wonderful ppl. If you wish to email me directly please do so at Virgogirl825@... Cheers to all of you!!
Guest guest
Hi, , I will be paying out of pocket for mine, too. Part of it will be savings, part of it will be credit card, and part of it will be a loan from my dad. I have very little stock set aside, and will be selling it, because like my savings, I figure that if I don't have the surgery, my health will continue to deteriorate and I will be using all th amoney at doctors anyway. I know people who have sold their cars and gotten smaller cars. It's rare to find a lender who will do a loan with no security, but it's always possible, I guess. I've never really looked. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi - Welcome to the group. I was a self pay for my surgery and I used my savings (all of them) to pay for the original surgery. There are a couple of companies that offer patient financing. It's possible your surgeon may work with one of them and can help you with the paperwork etc.... Guest guest
I attended a info meeting by a surgeon who doesn't accept insurance. This info was given out; Health Ready www.healthready.com Signature Web www.signaturewebmedical.com Hillside Group www.hillsidegroup.com Help Card www.healthcard.com Unicorn Financial Services www.usmed.com Amerifee www.amerifee.com PFS www.P-f-s.com Hopefully I've entered this info correctly( I tried my new super printer-copy scanner and couldn't figure out how to scan it) if you can't reach one of them let me know and I'll double check. Guest guest
Sheri-Thank you so much for sending the websites!! I checked all of the websites, so no worries on typos. I think we found an affordable lender. However, my partner is now becoming very, very concerned about me having this surgery does anyone here know if there is a support group for partners/loved ones/spouse..etc..support group for RNY patients? If anyone here could give my partner some advise.....remembering she supports the surgery but has the normal concerns of something going wrong ie...death, permanate disability. I have tried to educate her but I just think she needs some support from people who have been through this w/their loved ones. I appreciate those of you who have replied to my email and all the support this group has to offer. take care all! Virgogirl825@... P.S. Guest guest
- What your partner is feeling is totally normal. Many of us have had, oh what's the word, layed-back feelings from our spouses. Sorry I have a mental block, can't think of the right way to say it. Our spouses usually all react negatively at first because they don't want us to die. But after they become more educated, and realize that this is our best chance for better health, they come around. Remind her that there are risks with any surgery, it's not just WLS. If you don't have the WLS, how long will it be before you have to undergo some other type of surgery to battle your comorbidities? Hope this helps. She'll come around eventually.
