I wanted to tell you about a product that has been recommended. It is a product called Tea Tree Oil and you can purchase it at WalMart or the drug store. It is about $5 a bottle and a bottle will last a long time. You put a few drops in a pan of water and soak your feet. I am not a doctor and I'm not giving medical advice. I'm only stating what has been told to me and what I've read from members of this group and other groups. I use this oil for many different purposes and it works for me. I do get my test strips free so am able to check my bg regularlly. I have a friend who recieves medicare disability and they furnish her with 150 strips per month. so i got a michine like hers and she gives me strips .i sometimes feel like kicking my dear hubby out and being able to qualify for medical assistance (JUST KIDDING)but i guess i will wade thru all of this. i am so glad to of found this group Love, Debbie
Guest guest
My bottle says Takeda Chemical Industries and Eli Lilly are the manf. I know exactly what you are dealing with. There is a free clinic in my town, but I was turned away because I make too much money. Funny thing is, I don't make enough to support my disease. I'm on Actos, Diovan, and Lantus insulin, and used to also take Humalog insulin. I have a disfigured toenail do to a fungus infection, an infected, decaying tooth due to no insurance to see a dentist, and signs of neuropathy. So I, like you, am one of many who slip through the cracks. As costly as it is too be diabetic and as many Americans who are diabetic, you would think there would be some sort of exception for us, or at least a program developed to help us. I have a doctor that gives me samples of my meds, but that doesn't help with the cost of bloodwork. My highest so far as been a $250 visit. I was so astounded by the price that I stood in the office and cried. That was all I had in my checking account. How am I supposed to buy the foods I need? Not to mention syringes and test strips. I haven't been checking my bg reguarly for quite sometime. But yet, my income is too high to recieve assistance. Makes you wonder if its possible to quit your job and get on welfare. At least I'd be healthy. Even though it's great I have this doctor that helps, she never asks me any questions. She has only checked my feet one time. She never asks if I am experiencing any complications. She doesn't tell me what I am doing wrong, or suggest things I could do to improve my bloodwork results. I know nothing about the numbers of the results. But what do I do? Its the only way I can get meds. And I know your frustration with the food. After I was diagnosed last May, I was afraid to eat for fear of eating the wrong things. So I spent 2 hrs and $150 at the grocery store for myself and my husband. I was very careful about what and when I ate. My husband complains about my low fat food choices (not that he doesn't need to be eating it) so I had to by two of everything. That lasted 2 mo. I still don't eat like I should, but I am trying to make some changes in my life to get myself back on track. I recently enrolled in college and am working on a BA in Psychology. With any luck, my body will hold out for 3-4 more years so I can get a better job and a way to support my disease. Thanks Debbie, what started to be a short mess. turned into a venting/whining session for me too! I just felt my stress level go down! > thanks so much...i dont know the manufacturer but i take actos 30 mg > > Love, > Debbie > > >

Guest guest
>I don't > understand what people mean when they say their bg was 4.1 or 2.3, > and not sure waht the A1C (?) is. Are you in Canada, US, Europe? HgA1C (pronounced Hemogloben ay one see) is a 2-3 month average of your blood sugars. It is a test that is done at a clinic. If you are in Canada (and possibly Europe) your readings should be less than 0.070 (but 0.060 is better). In the US the same reading is shown as a percentage, so 7 is the same as 0.070, 6.5 is the same as 0.065 etc. Often it is higher when we are first diagnosed, but it seems to drop quickly when we pay attention to diet and exercise. Keeping the number below 0.070 SEEMS to reduce the risk of diabetic complications. Blood gulcose readings: These are tests that you do yourself with an over-the-counter testing machine. It is a snap-shot of your current level of sugar in your blood. This will change depending on when you last ate and what you ate. If you are in Canada and Europe then your daily blood glucose readings are in (unit of measure) mmols (pronounced milly molls or moles) and should be between 4 and 6 (mmols) fasting and no higher than 9 (mmols) 2 hours after you eat. In the US the same reading is shown in mg/dl (milligrams per decilitre) and the conversion factor is 18. So, 4-6 (mmols) is the same as 72-108 (mg/dl) and 10 (mmols) after eating is the same as 162 (mg/dl) Hope this clears up the " numbers " confusion! ~ Jayd May the Goddess help me to become the person my dog thinks I am.
