Guest guest
Midge, I have SAD and never used the luxes boxes because you have to sit near them to be effective. I use fluorescent full spectrum light bulbs in all my overhead lights. I have recently found that the newer fluorescent, energy saver bulbs work great for providing some bright, but not glaring, light in my rooms and have worked well for me. In multi bulb fixtures, I go for the 60-70 watt output and for single bulb fixtures, I use the 100 watt output (but it only uses about 20 watts of power). I'm not sure if it is the blue light that comes from a particular bulb like luxes are what makes the difference for someone with SAD, but my winter depression has all but ceased to exist these past few years. I also started taking 1000 mgs of magnesium about one hour before bed and that is contributing to my well being too. Dr. Mercola does have a light bulb that comes in 6 packs for about $100 that are full spectrum and they go into regular light sockets. They produce between 100-150 watts using about 30 watts of power and he tells of how to rate the color index for judging it's proximity to natural sunlight. They don't need to be put into boxes of any sort, just regular light sockets. One thing with the bulbs I use is that they have to warm up to get bright. So in my cold kitchen, it takes about 90-120 seconds for the bulbs to become bright. BTW, my electric bill (use is just lighting, TV, refrigerator, blow dryer) was cut almost in half using these light bulbs so they pay for themselves quickly! Guest guest
I wrote Sperti to ask if their product used full spectrum and here was his reply. Can anyone explain the technology? And is it better? ============================================= Our WINTERBRIGHT product does not emit UV energy.
