Guest guest
Wax -- I have been on Sotalol for almost a year now.The afibs were coming so fast that they doubled the dosage I had to take from 80 mgs twice a day to 160 twice a day.And I am on a whole other drug regime. All of this has triggered severe depression -- either from the drugs, or being in afib (which, on many occasions) comes complete with pain. I consulted with two well-known and published " heath psychologists " and am now seeing one of them. The depression (and the afib) has been so severe that I have not been able to work for the past nine months. This is why I have now opted for ablation. Massive dosages of strong medicine have profound psychological side-effects. I would urge you to consult your internist, cardiologist -- but I would also call the nearest large teaching hospital and ask to speak with the chairperson of the psychology/psychiatry department and ask for recommendations for therapists, i.e. health psychologists, who have had experience dealing with depression brought on by ortriggered by prescription medicines. If I were you, I wouldn't wait on this matter. You can take control of this -- what you have to figure out is the best and fastest way to do it. Guest guest
3 years ago I was on Sotalol and went into a deep dark hole of depression, I spent a week trying to figure the best way to kill myself without wrecking the car or making a mess. I started taking fish oil (Omega 3 fatty acids) and also used aromatherapy essential oils in a diffuser, or just sniffing it out of the bottle " Marjoram " oil did it for me and it pulled me out of the " hole " in about 3 weeks time. Then I weaned myself of the Sotalol with my doctors approval took about 10 days cutting down, I was also on 40mg twice a day. I have been free of med ever since and get my episodes are milder and shorter than when I was on drugs. about 4-6 hour duration every 14 days Ella (66 as of yesterday) Worries about ** SOTALOL HYDROCHLORIDE ** Hi, I've been taking Sotalol Hydrochloride for around 6 months now (40mg twice a day) for AFIB and palpitations that I was having. Recently, around 6 weeks ago, I noticed that I was getting really depressed and just feeling mentally agitated, and I was quite worried because I've never felt like this before. The depression just seems to be getting worse and sometimes I just dont feel like living anymore. I was reading on some websites that one of the side effects of Sotalol Hydrochloride is depression but I cant find any other information on this. If any of you have had this experience, or are taking sotalol and havent had this experience, please let me know. Thanks. Wax.
Guest guest
Hey all Thanks for your replies, it was a great help. I'm going to see my cardiologist in a few weeks and discuss my treatment further with him. Thanks again.
