Guest guest
Maybe you shouldn't use any artificial sweeteners at all. That way nothing will make you sick. Have real sugar...sure that's not the South Beach way, but if you are sick, then common sense says to STOP the behavior that is making you sick. Sometimes you have to make a decision...do I want to be thin bad enough to make a decision to not to be a slave to my taste buds? Sugar alcohols make me severely ill...just even a taste. So you know what? I stopped eating them. Now I don't have anything that resembles chocolate/candy bars, etc. with sugar alcohols. I won't allow myself to be ill. Do I feel deprived? sometimes...But you know what? It's a small price to pay for good health, smaller waist-line, and a better attitude about life in general. You shouldn't be irritated at all that the food industry hasn't come up with something that doesn't make you sick. I'm allergic to nuts. I don't get irritated because no one has come up with a substitute for nuts that won't kill me...or that doesn't make me sick. I just avoid anything and everything to do with nuts. It's a fact of life. You can't tolerate artificial sweetners. It's a fact of life. Now just move on. Maybe South Beach isn't the plan for you and from all your posts, it seems like it's not going well. I don't mean to come across as mean or snotty or whatever. Or discourage you in the least. In fact, my post is meant to motivate you to make your weight loss journey as successful as possible and make the most appropriate decisions for your well being. Becca Day 5 - Down 5 pounds!! Splenda Problem I'm still having a real big problem with the Splenda recipes everywhere. I have a violent reaction to Splenda, and I have met others, including my health store owner, who has the exact same thing. Severe cramps and diarrhea........for hours! I get irritated when I see the only options for recipes and prepared desserts such as fudgsicles, etc., pointing to Splenda and Nutrasweet. I got Stevia, which doesn't bother me AT ALL, but when I tried those mocha things with the egg whites, the Stevia ruined it. I had the nice soft peaks going, and as soon as Stevia hit it, it was soup. Anyway, there's no way I can stay on a lifelong way of eating with these Splenda things, and I certainly won't use Asparatame either, as it gives me headaches and makes me dizzy, being the poison that it is. I hope some better options come along, or I honestly don't know what I'll do to stay with it. Feeling deprived never works.........never. I > have a violent reaction to Splenda, and I have met others, =============== Maybe you will want to modify SBD WOE and consider using fructose as a sweetner, which is very low glycemic. Although not SBD approved, many diabetics use fructose without insulin surges. Talk to your health food store friend about it.
Guest guest
You can use Fructose you just have to count it towards your 75 cal sweet treats if Im not mistaken Dr A mentioned it in one of his chats.

I have used fructose off and on for YEARS for hypoglycemia.........it doesn't cause the "spike." But I never read anything about a 75 cal sweet treat limit.....I need to know more. What have I missed?
