Guest guest
We need way more information. Do you have any experience fasting? What are your goals and reasons for something so drastic? A liquid only diet, lasting weeks, (especially like the previous poster mentioned containing only sugar water) is downright dangerous. To add insult to injury, you're adding " vitamins and supplements? " -Terry>> It's mid-Winter and I'm feeling sluggish and have put on 10 pounds. I figure this will give my colon a rest and will be a great tonic. Yes drinking canned juice and fresh. What kinds do you recommend? What health benefits can I expect to experience? .. Guest guest
What is the fast for? What are you trying to accomplish? Are these fresh juices? I would NEVER recommend doing a fast with bottled juice as it is void of nutrition and only sugar. I would be glad to give suggestions but I don't know what you are trying to do FASTING Questions I started a fast last Thurs and eaten no sold food now. Drinking apple juice and pineapple juice and cherry juice and water. And taking vitamins and supplements. I plan on fasting (that is, liquid only) for several weeks. Any suggestions or thoughts will be appreciated.

Guest guest
I would NOT recommend this type of fast EVER. This is very dangerous. NEVER should you fast with bottled juice....actually never should you DRINK it!! And I have never seen a healthy fast on juice only that lasted for weeks at a time with a doctors care. There are SO many factors that are necessary to take into consideration. Fasting for weight loss is is not healthy. You will be doing extreme damage to your system. Also....what supplements are you taking? Are you having any real " health " issues or just feeling sluggish? I would do a a milk fast if I felt a liquid diet was necessary but that would again only be in an extreme circumstance where gut healing was necessary. So....to answer you questions (without really having info on what you plan is here).....there are NO healthy benefits to what you are doing. Re: FASTING Questions We need way more information. Guest guest
I am wondering where you go the recommendation to do this type of fast? a book? or just something you are throwing together? What supplements are you taking? Juice out of a bottle has been pasteurized so it is just sugar water at that point. It will sustain life but NOT health. You would be better off doing a water fast for a very short time than using juice. Sugar reduces your immune system by 50% for up to 6 hours after consuming it so right now you basically have zero immune system. I would be very careful. With that in view, I went to several health food stores where the folks are generally " over the top " about organic stuff. I asked for juices which were not pasteurized. The attendant showed me...and each one said Pasteurized, either on the bottle or the lid. These were all in glass or plastic bottles, but still said pasteurized. I went to Walmart and in the produce aisle bought a couple bottles of juice in bottles that specifically said NOT Pasteurized and NOT from concentrate. Guest guest
So there are raw juices at Walmart? What were the brands? Guest guest
What type of juice did you find? Other than fresh squeezed citrus juice I have never seen juice sold in a store (such as wal-mart) that wasn't pasteurized. Maybe in juice bars...but nothing that has been bottled. Guest guest
My local Whole Foods (Omaha, NE) carries freshly squeezed Orange juice - but it is very expensive. Half gallon regular is 6.99 and organic is 7.99. Guest guest
You might want to do your homework when going to Walmart. Although their label claims the item in " NOT " pasteurized, that might not actually be the case. Please check out the article below: http://walmartwatch.com/blog/archives/is_wal_mart_mislabeling_organics/ I went to > Walmart and in the produce aisle bought a couple bottles of juice in > bottles that > specifically said NOT Pasteurized and NOT from concentrate. They have several varieties. The flavor I bought was something like Guava, Mango blend. They also have Pomegranate and others. When the other poster started talking about Pasteurized, that got me thinking. I went in couple health food stores, and was astonished to see that ALL their juices are Pasteurized. Their prices are 5 times that of WMT, as well. What do you see in YOUR health food stores? Am I right? Btw, in a week on my liquid fast, I feel great, may have lost 3 pounds, but losing weight is not my primary intent. ..

Guest guest
Is one of the major benefits of fasting the elimination of Candida, due to the lack of sugar to feed it. Does anyone have some thoughts on this? Ralph --------------------------------- 8:00? 8:25? 8:40? Find a flick in no time with the Search movie showtime shortcut. Guest guest
There's plenty of sugar in fruit juice. If you were going to be fighting off Candida, you should probably stick to broth and veggie juice, but I don't know if that would provide enough calories. -Lana On 2/17/07, ralph tillman <ralphtillman@...> wrote: > > Is one of the major benefits of fasting the elimination of Candida, due to > the lack of sugar to feed it. Guest guest
They are still pasteurized juices. Some are what they call " flash pasteurized " but I have never seen fresh juice at wal-mart. I would LOVE to know the brand that you bought....because I just don't think it is even legal for them to sell. I still haven't figured out what you goal is for this fast? health concerns? And if you are following a book/doctor? Fruits juice fasts....especially with bottled juices are just not something of being done...even by raw vegans! Guest guest
There are many different reasons for fasting or doing liquid fasts! Personally I have never seen nor heard of a purely fruit juice fast...especially with bottled juices. I don't think the OP...has a real goal in mind and seems to be just playing around with their health without any real knowledge nor goal to what they are doing. A very risky and unhealthy idea. IMO Re: FASTING Questions Is one of the major benefits of fasting the elimination of Candida, due to the lack of sugar to feed it. Does anyone have some thoughts on this? Guest guest
But she is stating as a rule you should only be using fresh juice...if you are making your own....veggie juice is not harder to come by. It would have far more nutrition and far less sugar. If anything I would look at adding fresh veggies juices/bone broth/raw milk. There is a great raw milk diet available and has been advised for many healthy concerns. Again...just REALLY confused as to what you are doing a fruit juice fast for?
