Guest guest
Hi Sue Ellen, Urgency, starting and stopping are just my problem. So is frequency, because the bladder doesn't empty completely. If it's not too much information, Here's what I do to help empty better: Either just give myself more time and stay there and relax and wait a minute to try again, or stand up and sit back down (that tells my brain I'm going to go again,LOL). regards, kathi
Guest guest
Hi Gene and Dolly, I also have bladder and bowel problems and have been diagnosed with PLS for 2 years now (had it for a total of 5) and NIH agrees with the diagnosis. (I think) had an article on here recently that had followed 20 patients diagnosed with PLS and most of them had bladder problems. My problems are urgency and starting and stopping. Sometimes I just stop before I'm done and then have to really think about starting again! I take Detrol, maybe that's just something associated with it. It's also probably more than you wanted to know, but my apologies if I offended anyone. Regards, Sue Ellen Ledford

Guest guest
Kathy, Placing your fingertips just above the " bikini " line, add a little pressure while leaning forward. Standing up and then sitting and repeating this procedure is also a great help to assure you are as empty as possible. Guest guest
Thanks to all who answered re: bladder problems. From Kathi's comments, I thought maybe only HSPer's had bladder problems and PlS did not. The neuro thinks its prostrate problems. The gp (general practitioner, our family doctor), thinks it is the PLS or HSP. Anyway, Gene had a prostrate check yesterday and it was okay. Thankful.. Thanks again for the feedback. I go to the bathroom, but after getting up I get this achy feeling in teh urethra like a mini spasm. It lasted for about 5 minutes then went away. Eventually I would feel like I had to go even when I just did or that I was having spasms in my bladder which is where I am at now. I now have a burning tongue and blisters that come and go inside my mouth. I got this after taking Robaxin for a muscle spasm in my back. Of course---this means I have: Vulvodynia Possible Interstitial Cystitis Burning Mouth Syndrome All no cause/no cure illnesses. It sucks! There is no relief for pain so far. Mind hurts right after I go and stand up. Then it aches for a while then stops. Today my bladder is irritated though so my bladder feels fuller. The longer I wait to go the better I feel and then I hate to go cause I know afterwards I will have problems. Most IC (interstitial cystitis) patients have pain before they go, right after and as their bladder fills it gets worse. The only relief is when they are actually going. But there are different IC symptoms so I could still have it. I just don't want to have the cystscopy with distention. I had a cystoscopy and they said things looked fine but my trigone area was inflammed. If you look that up they will say that trigonitis is just IC but milder. I am at a loss. Guest guest
To everyone who posted re: bladder problems I've had bladder symptoms for years, since i was in my 20's.(I'm now 48). I always thought i had a small bladder. My symptoms are mostly just that i have to pee all the time, no burning unless i have an actual UTI. I had my urethra dilated when i was about 25 and that seemed to help for a while. When the vv flares, bladder symptoms go along with it(sometimes its a UTI, sometimes not). I also have IBS. Guest guest
Daphne, the fact that you get all kinds of sensations that come and go *could* be an indicator of pelvic structural and/or muscular problems. Neuropathic pain *can* be constant, but it can also come and go, jump around to various places, etc. I was just talking to my doctor about this this morning, as a matter of fact! She told me DV patients, like me, will express a whole range of pains and sensations that change location and intensity over time. To be properly evaluated, you need a doctor or PT who is trained to evaluate your pelvic structure (to see if your bones are symmetrical) and your pelvic muscles. They don't necessarily have to be a pelvic floor specialist, like my doctor & PT are, but they need training and experience diagnosing pelvic problems. Guest guest
When I went to see her for my VV, my doctor gave me a referral to the PT clinic, and my diagnostic code was something like urogynecological therapy/pelvic floor dysfunction- my therapist actually said they do a lot of the same treatments and exercises for women with vulvodynia/VV and bladder problems/incontinence. In my papers at home I have the diagnostic code # that the clinic gave me, to check with my insurance company to see if they covered that diagnosis. I'll find it and email it. Cultures only show Lactobacillus and no other abnormalitys?? Hi Daphe, I have very similar symptoms that come when the VVS flares up. Luckily it stops after I take Diflucan, that's why I take 200 mg.twice a week. Have you tried Diflucan? I also get a lot of help from drinking lots of water. Otherwise it is SOOOOO annoying, distracting- can't get any work done-since I spend the whole day in the bathroom!
Guest guest
yep, i am aware of that but my common sense doesn't alwaays win out over my self preservation!! I do try to monitor it so i don't cause my self trouble thats why I drink alot so that it goes through me quickly usually if it is dilute it hurts less too! Re: Re: Bladder problems Daphne, I *absolutely* understand why you might "holdit" for so long, when it hurts so dang much. Butholding it too long can let bacteria back up - not agood situation! I wish there was something that couldmake you feel less pain when you went, so at least youwouldn't have the desire to hold it for so long. :(Suzy--- daphne parsons wrote:> I am terrified of going to the bathroom> and I make myself miserable holding it for so long> and am probley not doing myself any favors it is> definatley worse if I just go when i don't really> have to go so I drink alot to make sure my bladder> is full when I do go.......... so damn bizzare!!> daphne__________________________________________________

Just think if I could manage to get all aspects of this under control at the same time....... well wouldn't that be the stuff dreams are made of??
