Hi, I have chest pains as well. Christmas Eve I swore I was having a heart

attack they were so bad. I was not being properly suppressed by my levoxyl

and the doctor believes that was the reason. I also thought it might be my

lungs and freaked out. After having a clean scan last week, and being off

meds for over a month, my chest pains have worsened. My doc ordered a CT

scan of my lungs just to re-check and give me some peace of mind. I got my

results and they were normal!! Yeahh! I was petrified of a spread. I really

think it is the TSH on the rise because all the aches and joint pains came on

at once. My endo recommended a tylenol /motrin combo for all the pain. It

worked wonders last night. I felt much better today. I cannot wait to get

my labs back to determine if I need RAI or not. Hopefully they will be back

tomorrow and I will be a step closer to back on my meds!! Good Luck.

Sofi:

I had chest pains, fast heartrate, shortness of breath but I'd been on .2 of

Synthroid for a while. They put me through the stress tests and said it was the

Synthroid so they cut my dose to .1. Two years later it happened again and

after they confirmed that it wasn't my heart they started me on a beta blocker

to compensate for the fast heartrate that the Synthroid gives me. I'm not a

doctor but I'd sure want to get it checked out.

Hi ,

The first time I went hypo after my surgery (only 18 months ago), I had a

muscle cramp across my chest while doing crunches. I thought I was having

a heart attack. It terrified me. I immediately wrote to this list and

found out that muscle cramps while hypo are very common. Then, after being

on levoxyl a few months, I got a muscle cramp in my calf that still gives

me nightmares. Then when I went hypo about 4 months ago for my one year

scan, I got muscle cramps across my back while lifting weights. The pain

was absolutely excruciating until I figured out a way to stretch out that

muscle. If you are having muscle cramps, then I really feel for you. My

muscle cramps really disturbed me. I've mentioned it to my doctors and the

response is always, " hmmm, never heard that before " then it's on to other

things.

Hi Marilyn, I had no contrast. My new endo was so funny and said if they try

to come near you with a needle turn snd use it on them. I am waiting for the

Tg. It was sent out to a special lab in California and has taken a bit

longer than expected. I just want to get on with this already and get back

to " normal " if there is such a thing. Lol. Take care.

Hi Sofi,

It is very difficult for any of us to know what is going on. Any chest pain

needs evaluated by your doctor. Then he will determine if further testing is

needed.

I assume they are waiting for your Tg results to come back even though

your scan was clean. If they do need to give RAI, I hope your CT was

done without the use of contrast because contrast can reduce the

effectiveness of RAI. Do you know if the CT scan was done with or

without contrast?

Hopefully all your bloodwork was fine and you can resume meds this

week!

Hi. I get a lot of muscle cramps already. Sometimes orange juice and banana

helps - when I'm low in potassium. Sometimes yogurt or milk helps - when I am

low in calcium. Calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, there are several

minerals that have to be in balance for muscles to keep their stasis. I also now

use a drop of rosemary essential oil mixed in a vegetable oil (almond, for

example) which I mix in my palm and then rub on the muscle that is cramping.

This helps calm the muscle down while the minerals are working. The muscle

across the chest is the diaphram and I get that one a lot - it is scary!
