Guest guest
It has been a long time since I've posted. I was on the board a week or so ago and read Felicia's invitation, so Saturday my sister (8 weeks post-op) and I (8 mos post-op) took a road trip. Felicia is a gracious hostess and immediately started mixing shakes and helping both of us understand the importance of supplementing with vitamins and protein. My sister had been having trouble getting the shakes down, but since Saturday with all the tips Felicia offered she has been drinking almost 2 a day. I went shopping tonight and picked up some sugar free syrups and better than milk ...very exciting stuff. Felicia and Glen are beginning an exciting journey, I wish you guys all the best in Mexico and will keep you in my prayers. I can't imagine what a mess my life would be right now if it had gone the way I'd planned it - God has great stuff in store for me if only I could get out of his way - it has been a slow process for me. Udate on me - As I said I am 8 months post-op, down 115 pounds from size 24/26 to a size 14 - I feel great!!! I am finally going to the gym regularly, taking vitamins and protein and seem to be still loosing more than 10 pounds a month. I never thought I could be a size 12 again, and have never been below 165 in my adult life. Last time I weighed in I was 173, which is two pounds less than my goal. I am going for it -- next goal is 150 and then to 140 where I hope to stay. Thanks all for your encouragement in the early weeks - I thought this was not going to work for me, but you all assured me it would. In all honesty it has worked better and faster than I'd hoped. Don't want to take too much more space here - but have been absent because in the past 8 weeks my company went out of business, I moved and now I'm in real estate school and working p/t from home. I am a single parent with three very small kids and a very crazy life. Thank God I'm finally able to start enjoying it! Guest guest
Val - Great to hear from you. You are doing fantastic. Isn't it nice that your thinner self can handle the stress to job changes, moving, etc., better than your old heavy self would have been able to. Good luck with the real estate school. Guest guest
Thank you, and you are so right, especially with all the physical labor that's been required In this regard, I'd like to share something - my husband and I have been separated for just about 18 months, and a couple of months ago he told me he was dating and involved in a physical relationship with another woman. Well after the shock wore off, I realized...how differently would I have dealt with that if I had still be 300 pounds? It was really painful, but certainly not as painful as sitting alone in bed hating myself and eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's. Instead, I doubled my efforts at the gym, asked out a guy that I was interested in and then did something I probably shouldn't but...anyway, I am very grateful. Val > Val - Great to hear from you. Guest guest
Yes! We had a great time. And I'm glad it was nice, quiet and cozy. My bigger parties rarely have that much warmth. I'm glad sis is going well. I could tell she sort of liked the shakes, though she was still having trouble getting any real volume down. It just takes our baby tummies awhile to heal You looked great, doing awesome. Everything is coming up roses.
