Guest guest
Hi folks - Newbie here. Just joined the list today. I have been on the SB diet for 4 days now and I'm doing pretty good. I'm not craving a lot of the things I like, etc.; however, I am a bit worried about one part of the plan - lunches. The SB diet meal plan (in the SB diet book) features some sort of salad for just about every lunch meal during phase 1. I'm not a big salad fan, but I have had salads for lunch every day for 4 straight days now, and I think I'm already about to burn out on them. I've tried adding a little variety, like adding grilled chicken, fish, etc., which helps, but it's still a salad. Any suggestions for lunch alternatives, or ways to make the salads more interesting? Thanks in advance. - Skip S.
Guest guest
Just don't have a salad at all. I had leftover grilled fish and veggies for lunch. Just eat from the list of things to enjoy and make sure you get some veggies in some form, even as V-8. Maureen
Guest guest
I'm on day 10 and I think this is the first or 2nd salad I've had. I've been eating things like my meat and cooked cabbage or cooked squash or cooked spinach. By having each thing separately and cooked, it takes away from the " salad all the time " feeling. Guest guest
Im 2 months into the diet and most of the time I have either a salad for lunch or veggies and some hummus & protein. Then for supper I have my cooked veggies. Also when I first started SB I made a pot of chili each week and froze individual servings for latter and did the same with soup. It made for a quick no salad lunch.

For lunch you should be eating a protein and two servings of vegetables. Chili with beans and tomatoes would fill the bill. So would a chicken and vegetable soup (no noodles, rice or croutons). I think Dr. A has so many salads listed for lunch because salads are relatively quick to fix. Also, he is in Florida, and I noticed that soup recipes are few and far between in his book. -- Ann You spend your life fighting dirt, and when you die they bury you in it. hayakawa@...
