Guest guest
This was taken from an (May 2003) online chat with Dr. A: Member Question: How much Diet Coke is acceptable during each Phase? Dr.Agatston: At this time, despite popular beliefs to the contrary, there is absolutely no good evidence of health dangers with any of the popular sweeteners, such as aspartame. We still recommend that moderation is the best policy. As far as caffeine in coffee or diet drinks are concerned, we initially advised limiting caffeine because it can increase insulin secretion from the pancreas. However, a recent study of coffee drinkers in Finland actually showed that higher coffee intake was associated with less Type 2 diabetes. We therefore may liberalize our caffeine recommendations, but for now we usually recommend one or two servings a day. Cissy

Guest guest
Cissy, Thanks for the info. I needed to hear that because I'm not ready to give it up yet. I did give it up twice in my life (sounds like cigarettes or something!@!) but ended up drinking it again, just keeping it to only one or two cups a day. Also, I heard on the news that caffeine is good for sex. lol Hugs, Dawn (Day 25?, lost 10 lbs., 35 more to go) > This was taken from an (May 2003) online chat with Dr. A: > > Member Question: How much Diet Coke is acceptable during each Phase? > > Dr.Agatston: At this time, despite popular beliefs to the contrary, > there is absolutely no good evidence of health dangers with any of the > popular sweeteners, such as aspartame. Guest guest
Heck, I drink a cup of skinny latte (I make it at home; expresso and maybe 1/4 cup skim milk, sometimes a tad more milk, every single day in the a.m. I am losing weight and feel great. While I have been able to quit smoking (17 years ago), I have never been able to go wituout my cup of coffee in the a.m. except when I was pregnant. I really think flexibility is important with all changes in eating lifestyle. And I would rather take in the caffeine, possibly cause an insulin increase, and even risk a craving, than give up the coffee. Plus I have never, personally, found coffee to make me crave anything. Guest guest
Me Too, however I get decaf Espresso. Also, on a cold winter afternoon, using a flavored coffee, such as Hazelnut makes a yummy Cappuccino too.
