Keep your chin up, I know its hard think positive - have you tried hand splints, they work great. You can whine anytime you feel the need, some days are just worse than others

Keep you chin up.

Hi Lavon,

What do you mean by frontal lobe signs? I've never herd of that.

As far as being unable to remember, you mind is on what is going on with your body, and the changes that are taking place. I don't think anyone could concentrate with something like PLS hovering over them. And as far as whining, we'll all have a turn at that, so whine on. We will be here to listen.

Best of luck,

Donna

Can you make mine Gouda?

I guess I need a little cheese to go with the whine... Went to see the pump doc yesterday- have had more problems walking for the last month or so and have trouble keeping my fingers straight. The verdict was that the pump is ok- doc thinks it's the PLS progressing. I'm pretty bummed out- I am so marginal at work these days that it would take very little to make me totally ineffective in the clinical area. I really had hoped to finish out the semester. I also am having more trouble thinking words escape me all the time and I find it harder to concentrate. I know these are frontal lobe signs- this is the pits. Lavon

Lavon,

I can empathize with thinking about the correct words. My file cabinets

in the brain open all related files, but not the right one sometimes. It's

strange that I can usually come up with a synonym, but not the word. The

concentration problem for me is due to the fact that if I'm not active,

I get sleepy. It has gotten to the point where I have to have most of my

groups while standing. Makes for a more active group. As for the semester:

YOU WILL MAKE IT! Has your neuro considered adding something to the baclofen?

Sometimes, as you are fully aware, it takes an additional med instead of

an increase in the one you are taking. Just a random thought from a warped

mind.

Lavon,

How is your quality of sleep at night? How I sleep

has so much to do with how I seem to be progressing.

It is really amazing how a few nights of really good,

stress free sleep can turn the clock back. I find I

can walk and talk quite well when well rested, really

crummy when not rested. And the brain fog is really

bad when I'm stressed and tired. For a while I

thought I was losing it mentally, it was really scary.

I bet the stress of the new year and worrying about

if you can handle it is making your symptoms worse.

Sounds to me like you need a nice stress free weekend

in NC to fix you up!

My thoughts exactly! Thats what I have been saying for years. Less is

best! Last week (after my roller coaster ride) I had a wild weekend,

stressed out with a situation with my 15 year old granddaughter (which

is a whole other story) I think the adrenalin keeps you going. Well

after being near collapse, I was so exhausted, my body just said " no

more lady " ! I stopped for 2 days and did absolutely nothing. Today I

feel great. My husband had a retiree luncheon we were scheduled to go

to, and I said " no " . It wasn't easy, because he really wanted to go,

and he decided not to go without me.

Sometime I don't practice what I preach, and boy do I pay the price.

Well I am babbling again (sorry)!

Till next time!

Rita

Lavon,

Sounds like we're in the same boat these days. For a little over a month

now, I have been noticing more upper body involvement and fasciculations in

both upper and lower body. I'm really dragging right now (literally) and

have also had more cramping in my hands as you are experiencing. I am

scheduled for an EMG on Wednesday this week to see if LMN's are becoming

involved. I'm very bummed and am just hoping this stops progressing soon.

I didn't do anything that I can think of to bring it on. I guess I'll just

keep plugging away until I stop! Good luck to you. Keep us informed on

what's happening and I'll do the same. Take care and keep the faith!

Yes Rita,

I have to choose my events carefuly or I end up

getting so worn out I can't do anything. So if

something is important to us I usually don't schedule

anything for a few days before or after, just so I

don't end up spoiling the important events.

I guess it's a fine line between " use it or lose it "

and " using it all up " ! Thomson
