Guest guest
Maggie Your comment: my "foot swells and gets quite red, though after a day of being on my feet" reminded me I had a similar problem for awhile. It was caused by tightening my AFOs straps too much and cutting off circulation. Hope this helps. Alan Kirk Into/jennifer movie/stem cells> >> >> > > hi there,> > > This is my first post. Guest guest
thanks Alan, I'll give this a try. It would really be something to find such a simple solution. ) maggie > > Reply to --I, too, am better with shoes " on " than " off " . Guest guest
Good luck. Let me know if it works. I know I was surprised when my Dr. suggested it. Felt like "Why didn't I think of that. Duh". We often blame everything on PLS, but there are other causes for our problems too (like getting older!). You said: "after a day of being on my feet" Are you working? I can't stand long or walk very far. Take care. Alan Kirk Into/jennifer movie/stem cells> > >> > >> > > > hi there,> > > > This is my first post. Guest guest
don't have the necessary "toe control" to hold flats on my feet. For any dropsy feeters, One possibility for not being able to hold flats is that the achilles tendon may be tightening and so it's harder to raise the front part of the foot. Achillees tendon stretch exercises help keep as much flexibility and range of motion as possible. I try to do them several times throughout the day, but often forget, so try to tag them into another activity of the day - usually going to the ladies room, which I do plenty of times, LOL. Guest guest
With nerves damaged, exercises are impossible after a certain point. I have slant board to stretch my heel cords. It has adjustable degrees of incline. When you stand on it, your heels are lower than your toes. It gives a good stretch, but nevertheless, the toes don't move--have not for many years. Flexibility and range of motion do not necessarily guarantee voluntary movement. Dolores Re: shoes don't have the necessary "toe control" to hold flats on my feet.
