I think the pains you are describing are diabetic neuropathy. I have

neuropathy in my feet, but also get shooting spasmodic pains that literally

paralyse me for about 15 mins , if I try and move I think I gonna die.

Neuropathic pain is treatable but you MUST see your diabetes specialist.

generally treated with drugs used for epilepsy, to block the nerves from

triggering pain.

Peripheral NeuropathyThe most common type of peripheral neuropathy damages

the nerves of the limbs, especially the feet. Nerves on both sides of the

body are affected. Common symptoms of this kind of neuropathy are:

Numbness or insensitivity to pain or temperature

Tingling, burning, or prickling

Sharp pains or cramps

Extreme sensitivity to touch, even light touch

Loss of balance and coordination

These symptoms are often worse at night

Good luck

I need advice. I am vising my mom in CA and have started having

excruiting, debilitating shooting pains in my right lower leg. The

pain only last about 15 seconds, but it drops me to the floor. I

called my out of state doc and he did not call me back. It started a

few days ago with one or two episodes a day, but today is is almost

constant.

Has anyone had this type of probem? I am not sure if it is diabetic

related - neuropathy? - vascular? - orthopedic? I don't have a doc

here and do not want to go and sit 6 hours in an ER.

I was diagnosed 6 months ago, type II, diet and excerise controlled

and my sugars are in the normal range for me - mostly running under

120. I feel fine, no new meds, no changes that I am aware of.

Has anyone else had this type of problem????

Help, I'm really hurting!!!!

Hi,

We haven't had a reply from you since you posted this message. Just

wondering if you were able to contact your doctor or see a local doctor in

that area.
