Guest guest
Hi all, I've been off the list for quite a while but now it looks like I'll have more free time since I'm now working part-time. I was just recently diagnosed with chronic vein insufficiency. My problem seemed to begin when I was on vioxx. My legs started to swell and my doc kept saying this was a side effect of vioxx and not to worry. Well my condition continued to get worse and my doc put me on lasix, a diuretic and my legs looked a little better. Finally I stopped taking the vioxx. My legs still didn't look better and my doc told me I had edema and to elevate my legs and continue taking lasix. All of this had gone on since January and my legs continue to get worse in terms of swelling, redness and pain. My doc now tells me I have chronic vein insufficiency and has referred me to a vascular surgeon. She also told me that this condition was common with EDS. I had never heard of this condition before. Does anyone know about this condition and what to do. Support compression socks have been suggested but one of my docs thinks they will hurt my fingers and shoulders when I pull them up. HELP please!
