But having been fortunate enough to have attended the CT CONNECTION and saw what a great job that you and C. did, I'm not surprised at how thorough and professional you are when attacking something of such great importance. Thank you for sharing the process. Knowing where and how to start is always the hardest thing for me. I notice by R.'s database that California has the most "members". If and I work together, she contacting southern California and I contacting northern California, hopefully we'll have a positive response too. It was a big job and I had about 10% returned because they were no longer at that address. By using the white pages on the Internet, I was able to get other addresses, but even some of those were not current. If I had a " re-mail " returned, it went in the " circular file " . I did the same to get the names and addresses of daily, weekly and monthly CT newspapers. Likewise, some of those addresses were also duds. Guest guest Posted February 28, 2002 Report Share Posted February 28, 2002 I know this post is a little late regarding the subject but that's the story of my life! I just wanted to encourage you to give the support group a chance. I facilitate an ASA group in my town and it was the best thing that I could have ever done for ME! Yeah, we have speakers(every other month) for autism info but just finding other parents with the same issues was such a relief. Alot like this group! Most importantly, the friends I have made have been a godsend. One girl I have become especialy close with I probably would have never met otherwise. (She lives on the other side of the county) We always laugh and say what a relief it is to go to a friends house and not have to worry if your child licks a tree or sniffs the floor! LOL LOL!!!! Our kids can just be themselves and we get to have a nice visit. Just be ready to ignore the selfish leader and take from the group what YOU need. Well, that's my speech for the day! Hope this helps!
