Sonja,

I have thought about this myself. As for telling others, I may tell a few

girlfriends who know I am ttc. As for my parents, I will wait for a

confirmed uterine pg and then invite them over to see some new pictures and

slip the us pic right in there. As for dh, I'll have him test with me. He

knows the routine, when I hit day 28, he's already asking me to test.

But one thing that i really want is to have my hubby tell me " It's a Boy "

or " it's a girl " in the delivery room. I don't want to know beforehand,

and I don't want a doctor or nurse spreading the news, I want to hear it

from man with the chromosome.

Of course, I will let you all know right away bc I will need the support of

you all.

new poll... about ttc.see what you all think

hiya all,

I was just wondering.... there are so many of us currently ttc.,and some

already pg. again... and this always interests me.

For those of you ttc. have you thought of how you will tell your partner

your'e pg. when it happens? will you have him take the test with you?

will you write him a note, give him a card, slip a 'dummy' into his

drink? If he is at work when you test, will you phone him with the news,

wait for him to get home, make up an excuse for him to come home

early? Will you tell your respective families right away, or wait a

while? How will you tell them? Will you give them a congrats card, and

wait for the reaction? Will you show them a sonar pic,and see if they

can figure it out? Will you hand them the test stick, and see if they

know what it is?

Those of you now pg. how did you tell your partner? How did he react to

the news? instantly extatic? nervous, withdrawn, anxious, quietly

content? Did you tell your parents right away, or wait a few weeks

before sharing the news... if you did wait, what was their reaction to

not being told right away? Were they happy anyways, upset coz you didn't

share sooner, didn't care either way?

Lets see what we come up with on this one.... :) I am always thinking of

ways to tell the dh. the news when it happens...

take care all.

sonja :)

Rico just got a new camera in preparation of the baby's arrival. (Just a

convenient excuse to buy a new toy:)) He wants to do the same thing with

our family, esp. the kids. I draw the line at videoing the birth. He

thinks we should do one for us and an edited version for friends and

family. I'm not going for it!

I figure the fewer people that see " that " side of me, the better! I have

not said " NONE " but I will definitely draw the line so we have no crotch

I agree. I like the idea of the camera right after baby joins us, but no

crotch shots allowed. And I don't want the sweaty pushing parts even. Not

to mention that I tend to swear a blue streak while in pain, and i don't

want that captured for posterity.

LOL Tara about swearing. I can't blame you for that either! I have every

intention of having big time DRUGS, so I won't have to worry about that I

hope. The way I look at it is, I would never have fillings or other dental

work done without medication, or surgery without anesthesia, so why would I

I hear you there. I will need drugs and lots of them. Although, I can do

dental work without novacaine. My new dentist doesn't like to use it

unless you have a major problem, and I have yet to feel any pain in his

care. (This coming from the world's biggest baby:))

I am trying to give swearing for Lent. It's no going too well. It was

easier quitting smoking. But I am going to keep up the fight. My daughter

said that I didn't want the baby's first work to have four letters and

begin with the letter " f " or " s " . Out of the mouths of babes. Pray for me

on this one - I need it.

Sonja,

Well, my dh always knows when AF is due since starting ttc, so he knew

when I was going to take the test. I can't keep a secret. Of course,

as soon as I woke up I took it and he was still sleeping so I woke him

up and told him. He was shocked I think. And then he was scared. He

said he wanted to be happy, but it was really scary. He didn't want to

lose me and he didn't want to lose another baby. We told our parents

right away because I figure even if I had another ectopic or

miscarriage I want them to know about the baby from the beginning and

be there for support for me. We just called them on the phone that

morning (couldn't wait). That's my input.

Nothing is too secretive in our lives. Jani knows where I am in my cycle,

just as I knew where she was in hers when ttc. Whenever I'm late, she

knows and we go together to have the beta run at the clinic. While not as

romantic and sweet as 's plan, I like that it helps me feel like

we're both on the same team with all of this.

As for telling others. We have a close circle of chosen family who know

about our journey. We'll tell them when I'm pregnant again, because their

support is so critical if we have another loss. As for telling our

families of origin, we'lll probably wait until we see the baby on u/s heart

happily beating. The losses are hard for them to deal with and they end up

sayhing hurtful things, not intentionally, but because they don't know how

to express their feelings productively. I'd rather avoid having to support

them through their issues when I really need the support myself.

to swear as well! Although, I am sorry to say, that I have never yelled

" Oh sugar!I seem to have broken something, and it felt rather

" B#$%^%$##%%%$#$%%$ F%^%##%^ & ^%$ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Sonja,

My first pregnancy resulted in our little Olivia. We were at a concert and I

realized that I was about a week late and by the time we'd gotten home, we

both pretty much

figured it out. The next night I did a HPT and I left this test in the

bathroom and made go back a few miunutes later to tell the results.

We told his parents right away, but I wanted to tell my family in person

(since they lived out of town) so I arranged a trip to my Mom's and was able

to tell her, my Grandmother and my Great-Grandmother all at the same time.

It was one of my favorite moments of all time!!

With my second pregnancy, our families had known that we were trying and we

told them right away. We told everyone! Then a week later we had to start

explaining to everyone that there was a problem, etc. etc. etc...

So, with the subsiquent 4 losses after that, we keep the news to ourselves.

I tell my Mom, of course, but thats about it. And as far as me suprising

Mike, the EP's have robbed me personally of the joy and excitment couples

experience when they find out that they are expecting. For me, instant panic

and fear and grief all set in at the same time. That is one of the hardest

things having EP's has done.

Take Care,

I will take to the testing with me. If he is at work, I will call

him. Probably ride out to his job site. I will get on my rooftop and

scream to my little town to the top of my lungs that i am pg. :0)

I am not going to be shy about it at all. I will be so excited and I am one

probably even go as far as calling people from high school and tell

Thanks for sharing.... I guess we have all been placed in a situation

where getting a pos. HPT will evoke more fear than exitement, but in a

way I guess that when we all get pg. again, and go on to deliver a

healthy baby, the exitement at the birth will override all of the

initial fears and worries..:)it will just be so much more special for

us..

never

heard him say stronge words like the F word but I have heard a few

things

come out of his mouth. Now when ever he smashes his fingure or breaks

something he YELLS!!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! LOL I think its cute he

started

watching his mouth when my son was 2 he told him to keep is ASS out of

the

office and Bryon said ok pappy I will never but my ass in your office

again.

>From that day on Bryons butt was refered to as a honky donky. Love that
