Hi..my name is Michele, and i was put on Paxil the first time back in 2002 for a

couple of

panic attacks i had...i stayed on the meds for 2 years then tapered off over 3

months

because i wanted to get pregnant...for the first 2 weeks i had the usual of

nightmares..whoosh..nausea, dizzyness...then after that i just had the nausea

which

carried on into my pregnancy ( i got pregnant 2 months after going off)...for

the entire 9

months i was just tired..and had nausea..then once i had my baby...i could not

sleep..so

my doctor prescribed me ATIVAN.....BIG MISTAKE..i took it for 10 days..then

stopped..it

sent me into the BLACK HOLE OF HELL!!..for 6 weeks i had unbearable

withdrawal...i had

never felt that way in my entire life..i could not eat..sleep, i had complete

body twitching,

blurry vision, wobbly eyes, dizzyness, body pains, eye pain, tooth pain,

headaches.depression, depersonalization ect. I almost went to the hospital..but

my hubby

talked me out of it..and i went to my doctor and went back on Paxil as a last

resort..for the

safety of myself and to be able to function as a new mother..

i knew it would only be short term..and once i felt better i started to taper

off..very slow..i

took my last paxil January 21st...and now i am 6 months free...this time after

going off..i

had nausea and was very tired....i just went through the phase 2 of withdrawal

at the 5.2-

6 month mark..and didnt feel good for about 3 weeks..with brain fog, hung over

feeling,

nausea, insommnia..and now for the last 2 weeks i am feeling much better..still

very

tired..but my cortisol levels are still high i would think..thus causing me some

insommnia...

i have been taking omega 3's, Magnesium Citrate and Time Release Vitamin C all

of which

have helped me..the stymtoms that i had been experiencing a few weeks ago..are

all gone

now..except for the tiredness...but as you know with these meds..things can be

going

along just great then bam...you are hit again for a few weeks!! i am crossing my

fingers

though that my brain will continue to heal..from the poison!

anyway..that is my PAXIL STORY!!

Hi Michele!

Your story made me feel better about what I'm going through...that

I'm not alone. I switched from Paxil 10mg to Lexapro 10mg and quit

Wellbutrin 300mg cold turkey about 5 months ago now. I was sick for

about 3 weeks with nausea, very weak and was in bed. After the first

3 weeks I felt better and then in my 4th month off the

Paxil/Wellbutrin I got hit with BAD withdrawals. I was extremely

nauseous and couldn't eat at all for about a week...lost 15 pounds in

2 weeks cause I couldn't eat much and just tried to sleep all the

time and was very depressed.

I'm starting the beginning of my 5th month now and I SEEM to be

feeling better. I'm taking Dramamine to help with the

nausea/dizziness and it helps. I'm taking a multi-vitamin and

magnesium and calcium which helps with the anxiety part. But anyways,

what month did you start to get over the worst hump of withdrawal?

About the 5th month? I'm HOPING I'm through the worst part...I know

I'm not completely over it and I will still have rough times as I

heal but I'm hoping that was the worst part. It sounds like your

withdrawal was similar to mine and I was just wondering how you are

doing now and when did the nausea get better for you?

Thanks!

-Beth
