WESTPORT, CT (Reuters Health) - In mice, deletion of the hypoxia-

response element in the promoter of vascular endothelial growth

factor (VEGF) causes motor neuron degeneration similar to that seen

in human amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), according to a report

in the June issue of Nature Genetics.
