Guest guest
<<It was Celexa. I am not too sure if you got that from subsequent posts, but Celexa has done me in. I feel almost as bad today as I did close to begining of withdrawal. I had two weeks in almost two years that I felt like me. I hope and pray I get back there. I am so pissed at those " EXPERTS " that testified and contradicted those people who are and have gone through the hell that these pills cause. WHO WATCHES OUT FOR US? NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, NOT THE DOCTORS, NOT THE FDA, NOBODY. I guess , Dr. Tracey, and Charly (of the antidepressantsfacts.com) are the only ones that have our backs. I so much want to put all of those pro-drug people down. NOBODY should have to go through what I went through.>> ** Thanks, Antony. But I still need more of a history in order to determine what is helpful to you at this time. Antony Sandler wrote: <<Has anyone had a more difficult time after going off of this medication then while on it. I have had violent thoughts and ideas from two days after quitting cold turkey, back in 2005 until now. I hope I am not alone with this, and I hope and pray I go back to normal. I actually set a goal that if I am not back to my old self by June of this year, then I am going to commit myself to a mental ward. I would give anything to be back to the old me. I have lost myself and am so upset that I have not been able to get back to myself. Has anyone been through this, and do you ever find yourself again. I don't trust doctors and medicine based on what I've been through in this last year. Thanks and good luck everyone.>> ** It is the cold turkey that has created this for you. It is the worst possible thing you could do (other than beginning any of these drugs). What you are experiencing is completely normal for a cold turkey withdrawal. Others here can twll you that. You can compare what has happened to your nervous system to what happens to your body if you are hit by a truck and survive. I'm willing to speculate that you were taking an SSRI but you've not said what drug. Also, please give a more in-depth history so I can begin to formulate a plan to help you. You will need to address this on a number of levels. We can help you do that. Regards, (list owner)
Guest guest
Dear Tracie, You said: << I'm a new member on behalf of my grandmother who i had mentioned has been on anti-psychotics drugs since Jan 07. She has taken Risperdal (which she actually had her 1st psychotic episode on) then switched to Zyprexa by her psych (she was diagnosed with major depression with pscyhotic features). Anyways, in addition to the Zyprexa she was on zoloft, after a time Wellbutrin 150mg was added twice daily. What a mistake...she ended up in the hospital for a week and with me begging them to take her off the drugs they wudnt listen to (guess because i'm not a doc) and proceeded to do all kinds of tests which all came back negative. Eventually a neurologist came in and based on her EEG and CT and Lumber puncture, decided to stop the drugs as she was majorly delusional, hallucinating, wudnt eat, restless, the whole 9 yards. After leaving the hospital much better, she was put back on Seroquel. I didnt see many improvements really and eventually she got worse, the dosage was upped from 50 mg per night up to 125mg. Did i mention that she weighs only 94lbs? The 125mg made her want to urinate every 20 mins - i was going berserk! The neurologist insisted she had a urinary tract infection, i insisted she didnt as frequent urination is one of the side effects..we finally agreed to taper and within a couple of days, this symptom disappeared. THEN, she went onto Geodon (let me tell u that she thinks that people r coming to kill her and do all sorts of horrific things to her). That was a nightmare, she was taking 40mg per day for about 4.5 weeks when i noticed that her muscles became extremely rigid, and mentally no improvement, she was also taking Exelon twice daily (for what i dont know, no improvement on that so after 6 weeks i stopped that). The doc upped the geodon to 60mg twice daily to see if mentally she wud improve. It gave her such bad diarrhea that she had to wear pampers around the clock...I called the doc and she refused to take my calls so I went to my pharmacist and with their gracious assistance i started tapering the Geodon on Jul 27. She has done nothing but improve and this coming Wednesday she will be taking her last. I forgot to mention that she is also taking Lexotan which has always helped her in particular with this bout of extreme muscle rigidity. She can now hold a conversation, walk with assistance from her walker and with the assitance of a nurse to exercise her etc. she is coming along fairly well. , I will NEVER put her on this crazy drugs again! They have only done more harm than help. I am supplementing her diet with b-complex (bid), centrum silver, vit C, calcium and will keep her on the Lexotan for a while as she still gets a little paranoid. ANY FURTHER ADVICE?>> ** Why was the first drug given? We have to make sure we address whatever it was, if anything, that got her a prescription for Risperdal. Be cautious right now. Coming off any of these drugs too quickly can throw a person into feeling suicidal and acting on it. Does she have any health problems? Does she take any other pharmaceutical drugs? My suggestions should not be followed until you've answered my questions and I've told you to go ahead with the suggestions. Thanks. The best advice I can give you is to be sure she is eating a healthy whole foods diet. If it can be organic or partially organic that's even better. Do you know what I mean by a " whole foods diet " ? Be sure she has a high quality multivitamin (Centrum Silver is not high quality; if you send me a URL from which you can order I will choose an appropriate vitamin for her). More than calcium, she needs magnesium, 200 mg 3x a day, fish oil, 2000 mg 2x a day, and possibly Vit D. With Vit C she could use 1000 mg. 3x a day. How much sun does she get (not slathered with sun block?) Let me know how she is now doing and I may have other recommendations. My ability to help is limited by having so little info and not having direct contact with her. Regards, .
Guest guest
Just as a brief response, my elderly aunt who has final stage dementia was treated abominably by the elderly psyche services and we had to remove her from her consultant ( which meant a change of hospital) in order that she would get proper care. She was on many of these antipsychotics, but now only takes a very lose dose of Citalopram along with other things required for her physical health. She will never recover, but she is in a better, more peaceful state now that she is no longer pumped full of myriad psyche rubbish which she was formally put on.
