I had the tracer dose and it showed a lot of uptake in the neck area. At

that time it had not spread to my nodes. My nuclear medicine doc at the time

has since retired. Now that I have learned a lot more about all this stuff,

he isn't around to ask. in Ct

Mine had left the capsule and was in 1 lymph node which they removed with the

thyroid, they said papillary (just papillary) stage 1. This can get very

confusing. when they did your first scan to see how high of a dosage to give you

what did they find?

Re: high dose of RAI

Hi , I am not really sure of the high dose, other than the fact that I

had stage 3 papillary carcinoma when they caught my cancer and it had started

to leave the capsule. in CT

I had a high dose of RAI in 94,, my 2nd dose. I had a total of 507mci's.. I

did do the dosimetry studies for this dose. I also didnt have the 507 in one

drink,, I had half one day and the rest the very next day. And the reason

for the high dose for me is my cancer is aggressive, I have mets to bone and

already had mets before I even knew it was Thyca.

Hope this helps someone..

judi

(dx 93, follicular w/mets to bone, 3 RAI's,, no clean scans)

The reason I asked is because in the 5 years I've been on this

listserv, I don't remember anyone receiving as much as your 431mCi's in

a single dose. In the cases that there were high doses given (like

300ish), they always seemed to do dosimetry studies to ascertain that

the bone marrow could handle such a high dose. I don't know if there

are 'hard & fast' rules for the amount given and the need for dosimetry

studies, but 431mCi's without the study seems worrisome to me.

Maybe someone who had a really high dose will post more on these

studies and what size dose necessitates them? Anyone?
