The theatres around here forbid it, if they see you with your own snack thay can throw you out of the movies.
Guest guest
Maybe its because the diabetes / sugar free products are still sold in a special place (sometimes near medicines) and people associate them with sick people...i don't think the movie theaters want to research that much on calories and carbs and what kind of sugar replacement it has etc... Plus.can you imagine what they would charge us for a sugar free bar..5 dollar I suspect LOL..sus -----Original Message----- From: Nodge Hi Nick, thats right, just because something is sugar free,it doesnt mean its fat free. Be sure to read all labels carefully, the ingredients carb, fat and protein grams. ITs the total calories that count. Take for instance 1/2 cup of regular ice cream vs, 2 cups of sugar free ice cream eaten. Pick the 1/2 cup of regular ice cream in this choice. There are still carbs in both of them, and still can add up in the sugar free one too. In this case, its the lactose, the sugar in milk. Hi Carol, We don't go to the movies very often. In fact, it has been about 3 or 4 years since I went, but eating the popcorn and a regular Coke (before diabetes) was more fun than watching the movie. Guest guest
Um.... hungry enough to eat at the movies? You're supposed to be HUNGRY to eat at the movies? I thought it was just *part* of the entertainment and a requirement that you must have popcorn (though I prefer no butter) and a big Diet Coke (I don't like the regular ones)!!!! LMAO!!! Carol in NC RE: Re: Why don't movie theatres sell sugarfree candy for diabetics? Its best to eat at home before going to the movies, that way you wont be hungry enought to eat there. The same thing applies to grocery shopping. DOnt go to a grocery store on an empty stomach. I have done that before, and its no good on your credit cards. Guest guest
LOL Eunice, wasn't it, though?!?! It's like before I quit smoking (8 years ago! YAY!) - getting everything ready to work, including a fresh pack, new lighter, clean ashtray, etc..... the rituals we go through daily and don't realize they are rituals!! THAT's why some of these old habits are so hard to break!!! LOL hmmmm another New Year's Resolution?!?!? Oh, by the way - has anyone had to be on Naprosyn or one of those nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories and had a problem with fluid retention or higher sugar readings or anything? I'm having a time because of some aches and pains, mostly back, and my doc put me on Naprosyn and I felt like a full tick!!! I was on it 3 weeks and stopped taking it and am feeling better already. Got back on my glucosamine, and I think that might do the trick. I don't like hurting all the time!!! ACK!! Guest guest
One movie house by me does not sell anything good but they don't care what or how much you bring in. They are in a strip mall and there is a pizza shop next door. They said, you can bring in pizza for all we care -- just clean it up! So we don't even have to feel sneaky. a

Baseball/football stadiums are starting to sell healthier foods, even some of the basketball and hockey arenas are starting to listen to consumers who say they dont want to eat the standard high fat, salty and carb laden foods that they sell. Out in CA they sell all kinds of healthy foods, but here in NYC all we have is dirty water dogs, salty pretzels, nachos covered with something they like to call " cheese food " and warm beer.
