To Everyone who has been thinking of us.

Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and private emails of support. I am

personally very glad that I can share the burden of this experience with some of

my closest friends, as I am unable to leave the property and I would go crazy

not talking about it. It prevents all this from becoming too overwhelming.

<weak smile> I am sorry to say. We really aren't out of the woods yet. I think

I will start breathing again after this weekend. (There will be no stuffing

bushland left to burn after that!!) We are expecting 35C on Saturday and 39C,

ahead of a Southerly change with winds whipping up to 65 kilometers per hour, on

Sunday afternoon with a possible (yes possible!?!) Thunderstorms.

From about 50 meters off the northern border of our property is charred as well

as far beyond it into other suburbs.... 50 meters, east of the playing fields,

across the road is burnt out aswell. West of our property is all residential

properties, so there is little threat from that direction, However.... There is

only one section of bushland left around our place that isn't burnt, (South) and

if so much as a spark (or feral child, with a lighter) hits it, when that

Southerly comes through on Sunday... I wouldn't like to bet on our chances.

The situation here, in Sydney, is such that there are about 8,000 odd fire

fighters from Queensland, South Australia, and New South Wales fighting

the fires here and more expected. And with the expected high temps and more

winds over the weekend, everyone is biting their fingertips, awaiting an

outcome. But we are all well aware that there must be sufficient enough risk,

for there to be so many fire fighters up here.

We are holding up well and anxiously waiting for this whole thing to just be

over and then we can sit down, have a bourbon, and put our feet (ankles) up.

<weak smile>

It's been pretty scary here, but I gotsa feeling that it isn't quite over yet.

<sad smile>

Luvs to all.

Hugz..................Helen
