Guest guest
FULL BREAKFAST AND TEA CONSUMPTION LINKED TO ESOPHAGEAL CANCER IN WOMEN Women who eat a traditional cooked breakfast or consume large quantities of hot tea appear to have an increased risk of developing squamous esophageal cancer, according to a report published in the British Journal of Cancer. http://womenshealth.medscape.com/45766.rhtml?srcmp=wh-120701 " Consumption of salads and consumption of a light breakfast -- defined as anything other than a fry up -- seemed to have a protective effect on cancer development. Women who ate a traditional cooked breakfast were twice as likely as light breakfast eaters to develop cancer, but women who skipped breakfast altogether had the highest risk. " The quantity and temperature of tea consumed were directly related to oesophageal cancer risk. Alcohol consumption was not related to risk, but the number of years of smoking was significantly tied to cancer development (p = 0.015). Aspirin use seemed to have a protective effect on cancer development, but this finding was limited to British regions. " Br J Cancer 2001;85:000-000.
