Wow Laurel, do we have the same sucky endo? I am also the queen of

joint/muscle pains, horrible salivary gland pain, and all the other aches and

pains. Guess what famous line I was given? " All those symptoms are not

related to thyroid cancer. Follow up with your primary doctor. " Pardon me,

but I think they are all full of " you know what " . Before this cancer, the

only aches and pains I had were the next morning after a long night out at a

club dancing with friends!! Hang in there.

Be sure that ya'll get enough Calcium daily. It really does not matter what

kind that you get, as long as it does the job, and keeps you healthy. This

program should serve as a reminder that even those that try the no-dairy

approach, should still get the recommended daily amount of CALCIUM. Just

because we are advancing in age a bit, does not lessen the need.

Does your diet have enough calcium???Enjoy a one-cup portion of milk and yogurt

and a match box sized square of cheese and you'll be in good shape for the

three-a-day calcium recommendation from the US Department of Agriculture. This

new campaign to begin in March will try to combat the fact that most Americans

eat only half of the recommended three servings of dairy they need each day..

That's tough news when nutrients in dairy products are known to build muscles

and bones, maintain blood pressure, regulate cell growth and build red blood

To reduce the risk of osteoporosis (and possibly colon cancer), shoot for 1000

mg (if you are 50 or younger) or 1200 (if you are over 50), but doses over 2000

mg a day or more may increase the risk of prostrate cancer, so don't go

overboard. A days worth of calcium won't fit in most multivitamins. So if you

don't eat three or four servings of low fat milk, yogurt, cheese, or

calcium-fortified orange juice every day, you can take a 300 or a 400 mg calcium

supplement for each serving that you miss, depending on your needs. There are

many other ways to get the proper amount of calcium, but this seems to be one of

the simple ways. Keep strong bones, because once they go, your mobility will be

I believe Spinach has calcium, I mix it into my salads....Coral Calcium supplements are good too...

How can I get more calcium? I am loading my foods into fitday.com and looking at the reports, I am only getting a very small percentage of calcium. Help!!!Also, my circle graph shows a lot of fat. I am eating olive oil on my salads and a pat of margarine on veggies. I recommend you take a calcium supplement as well as a multi-vitamin.

Don't be alarmed by the graph. It should be interpreted as a large

part of the calories you're eating come from foods with fat (such as

meats, cheese, milk, etc), but the quantity of calories is lower than

most people so the actual fat grams is probably somewhere around the

govt RDA, which is 62 grams I believe. Check your fat total count.

After reviewing my numbers on fitday.com I had to cut nuts out.

They're too tempting to return to. They're high calorie and high fat

(for those who watch the numbers).
