An involuntary muscle contraction, or violent jerk if you will. I have always had restless leg syndrome, which is a curse; however one month after going on Neurontin my body's motor control went crazy. Broke my wife's antique teapot when I reached out and took hold of it....next thing, it was flying through the air from the kitchen into the dining, and shattered into pieces. I was knocking everything, and anything over within my arms reach. It was at its worst when I would try to lay still and rest. Much like what you described, my body had a mind of its own and would jerk violently. It is very distressing if you don't know what they are, or have never experienced it before. I went off the Neurontin and my body settled down over the next couple of months. Some professionals feel that it can occur when you are overly stressed, or not getting a proper deep sleep, or from a drug reaction. I wouldn't disregard your experience though, as there may be an underlying medical problem also, and I feel you should discuss it with your doctor.
