Guest guest
Hello~ I have been weaning off of Zoloft now for 1.5+ years. I was only on it for 6 mos at a 50mg dose. My husband switched jobs 5 mos ago and now our new insurance is saying they will not cover Zoloft. My doctors office sent in a request that they cover it and they denied it " based on scientific evidence " that a step 1 drug is a viable option. Because I don't have proof of trying a " Step 1 " drug (as defined by their policy) within the past 180 days they will not pay for Zoloft (which is listed as a " step 2 " drug). I have the right to appeal the decision, which I plan to do. I would like to send them information, preferably medical journal articles that will back up the fact that I should not switch from the Zoloft during withdrawal. Is there anything out there like this? I don't have tons of time to research as I have 4 children, so I'm hoping someone may already know where these things are. I have 1 25mg Zoloft left, which will last me 10 days. After that I have to pay out of pocket ($105 for a 30 day supply) which I will do, if necessary, as I'm not willing to jeopardize all the work I've done to get myself to this point. Thanks in advance for anything you can share that will help me here. Oh, the " scientific evidence " they referenced was dated 1999 and 2000. How $#^^ & $%$ insane is that??!!! Angel>> ** Angel, please provide the references they gave. Thx. C
