Rob, If you've been here a few weeks then you should know to start by studying the files and making dietary and supplement changes. You won't be successful until you make those changes. I'm "bipolar" too and I've been reducing meds for three years now. (I just recently got the additional help here) I'm also on many meds, hence why it's taking so long. The changes I made here have helped a lot. Rob wrote: Hello and Happy New Year - I think I might have been the last person of 2006 to join and I have just got round to posting. I found this Site through http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Carersforumuk/ and would welcome any input to my situation, which is being diagnosed as Bipolar since 1994 and since such time I have been on Lithium. Last year I attempted, with appropriate back-up of Psychiatrist & CPN, to come off Lithium altogether. I was on half the amount of Lithium after 6 months and doing well, even though the blood count was below the therapeutic range - then I had a 'blip', which has resulted in the amount of Lithium to be increased back close to the original amount. So I am back to square one and looking for a way to be med. free without any 'blips' taking place ? Best wishes, Rob Hanlon www.aimhighpeak.com The all-new Yahoo! Thank's . I'm getting round to reading the files and hopefully find something that will be suitable. I realise that changes will be needed and anything I decide to do will be talked over with my CPN and Psychiatrist and more importantly - my partner. Glad to know there is a fellow Bipolar on here. Best wishes, Rob Hanlon. Cassani wrote: Rob, If you've been here a few weeks then you should know to start by studying the files and making dietary and supplement changes. Rob, A word of caution...most psychiatrists know absolutely nothing about withdrawal and may not support it at all. I am lucky in that my doctor is supporting me, but had I relied on him for information on how to do the withdrawal I would have failed. He simply does not know what is involved and very few psychiatrists do...they don't do withdrawals...they put you on drugs. Many people here have to do their withdrawals without doctor support...if your doctor is very closed minded, you may have to as well. I hope you are lucky enough to have a doctor like mine...but don't blindly take his advice if he agrees to cooperate...do your research here and tell him how you'd like to proceed. best, Rob wrote: Thank's . <<Glad to know there is a fellow Bipolar on here.>>

Rob, we don't identify ourselves by our diagnoses here. Bipolar is

only a diagnosis, not a person, and it is a bogus one at that. All of

those bipolar-type symptoms can be addressed effectively with diet,

supplements, and some coping tools.

Hundreds of our members, including myself, bore the bipolar label for

years, but are now symptom-free. Much of the time it is the drugs

themselves causing the symptoms, and getting off the drugs (in an

appropriate way) makes an enormous difference.

Kim
