Guest guest
April The subject is probably OT so will not elaborate but it is a combination of both. We have to personally take care of our health but we have to keep the Government accountable and responsible for the well-being and welfare of We, the People. We , the People, elect the Government. It is for our common welfare that we elect it. I will grant you that our ideas of what is our welfare is not equally shared but I am certain that keeping and improving our health is an universal ideal. That we come to a point where for the sake of profit our health is so compromised by the system is a clear indication it needs a thorough overhaul if only just to preserve our very existence in the USA. Look at it this way, we in the USA spend per capita more for health than any nation on the planet .. We in the USA have the worst health system of all industrialized nations.. Guest guest
I would agree that the government should be accountable. However, that same accountability should be applied to each individual to make healthy choices. It is our responsibility to do everything we can to take care of ourselves and be as healthy as we can be. Socialized medicine is not the answer. PERSONAL accountability needs to be factored into this as well. Think how different the health of Americans would be if we gave up fast food, cigarettes, alcohol, promiscuity, and any other slew of bad habits that contribute to ill health. Then think of how much better our health would be if we all got off the couch and actually participated in physical activity on a regular basis. Too many people think they can live carelessly or recklessly as if there are no consequence for their actions, then when they develop life changing illnesses, run to the doctors for a fix-it pill without having any accountability for their own actions or wanting to change their lifestyle. I suffer from severe asthma. I don't blame the system for my dis-ease just as I did not demand the system " fix " my dis-ease. But...with diet changes and lifestyle changes, I have significantly improved my health, without running to my doctor. In fact, in the past year, I have gone from having to take five medications a day to -- ZERO. I am now using medication only on an as needed basis and have been symptom free for over six months. I know others who can share similar successess in their lives. That was the only point I was trying to make. It is not the government's responsibility to see to it that I live as healthy as I can. -- April On 6/18/07, Frantz Mathias <frantzgm@...> wrote: > > . > The subject is probably OT so will not elaborate but it is a combination > of both. Guest guest
It wasn't a bad documentary. I guess I was fortunate enough to start watching it before they yanked it and even after they yanked it, I was still able to watch all of it. I tried to download it after I finished watching it but before I closed the page. Alas, got the message that it was no longer available. -- April On 6/18/07, ee <scottee1@...> wrote: > > . > I think it's due to be released in theaters soon here in the US.
