Guest guest
See www.jcrow.com about the iodine. It seems to be necessary to break down excess estrogen, which causes fibroids, and also is known to be good for cyst-type problems. If you don't want to try the Lugol's solution, it's at least handy for the skin patch test to see if you are iodine deficient, then go buy yourself some kelp tablets, or kelp extract or dulse or whatever you prefer for the iodine. My daughter's favorite source of iodine is snow crab legs. Once I started iodine supplements my periods got really nice - regular, no more PMS, no more pain or cramps. It can take several months to work but for me started working in a month. For the constipation, make sure you're getting enough water, and epsom salt in your bath will allow your body to absorb enough magnesium, which draws moisture into the large intestine to soften stools. Stress and hormone problems can quickly use up magnesium stores. Hope this helps! > > Hallo all, > > I have been a lurker for quite some time and really enjoy this very informative list. The more I read, the more I realize how badly I need to rethink my eating habits. Figuring that the New Year is as classic as it comes for new resolutions, 2007 should see me trying to better implement NT nutrition. > > But what is it they say about the best laid plans??... 10 months ago, I was found to have a smallish fibroid. Over the last 6 months my cycles kept getting longer and heavier until 10 days ago I had to go in for a D & C. I will spare you the yuckier details, but let’s just say that I am now severely anaemic, my hormonal levels are out of whack, and I am constipated to boot. This is neither a good nor comfortable combination! My doctor has put me on iron supplements, and yam extract and vitex agnus-castus (Chaste tree berries) to stabilize the hormonal levels. I am going to my homeopath today for additional suggestions on dealing with the fibroid. He said he might also have something for my constipation issues and nothing could make me happier at the moment. Since the D & C I have been getting more bloated by the day. If I press a finger into my lower leg, it leaves a dimple. > > Any suggestions of what I could do on the nutrition front? > Gratefully, > ne > sapress123@... > > >
Guest guest
Hi, I'm from Milwaukee and I'm new here . . . I'm chiming in on the anemia question--Personally, I would stay far, far away from iron supplements. I was given iron supplements during and after my 1st pregnancy and they wreaked havoc with my GI tract for a long time. It took 6 weeks for my body to recover after I stopped taking them. My husband has aplastic anemia and his hemoglobin is quite low. We were able to raise it one whole gram in a week (the hematologist was very impressed) by eating organic liver once a week and eating organic, unsulphured dried apricots every day. Dried apricots are amazing at how they can raise your hemoglobin. Any HFS should have organic apricots that have not been treated with sulphur. They'll be brownish instead of bright orange but they taste the same. Apricots from turkey are cheaper and softer than California apricots- -the ones from Turkey are also wild, I believe. If you've been on iron supplements, you'll need plenty of good quality yogurt and/or kefir to help your GI tract recover. I try to drink red raspberry leaf tea every day. It is reputed to be good for the entire female system. I encourage you to consult a midwife, as well. Your homeopath probably knows one. I hope you feel better soon. The GI problems that I had after the birth of my first baby (including horrid constipation) from the iron supplements were far, far worse than natural childbirth--I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
