Sweetie if I were you, I would not be stressing about anything...lol, according

to my DE the new limits for fasting sugars ie pre-breakfast and 5 hours or more

since the last meal is:

Fasting: 70 to 110

Post meal at 2 hours: 110 to 180

Sounds to me like you are doing pretty good... keep it up..

Re: Cinnamon Ginger Cookies

It must be nice to be able to eat things like this and still keep your bgs

under control. 12 g. of carbs in two little cookies, and no nutritional

value, is too rich for me. Do those of you who eat things like this cover

it with oral meds, or injected insulin, or not eat your veggies that day?

How do you *do* this?

Our bodies can get along on zero carbs. I know many diabetics who do

fine on 20-40 grams of carbs a day, and most of us who are diet-

controlled (no meds) find we must keep carb intake beneath 100 daily.

It's so encouraging to hear " actual " diabetics (actual people with diabetes?

I know we're not our disease...) talking about lowering carbs (as opposed

to following the ADA diet of, what it is? 200+ carbs/day??)

I was diagnosed 9/25, with a1c of 8%, and have yet to see the nutritionist.

(I rescheduled my appt from mid-Oct, simply because... ok, i WAS sick, but,

to be honest, I'm not looking forward to it... ) I've been lo-carbing

since, and my bg runs about 120 now

I didn't consider my diabetes educator-type-person to be much help either...

I got more information, and more useful, from my sister (diabetic for 10

yrs) and a friend (off meds from lo-carbing). And from the lists i've

joined.

Thanks so much to everyone for all the info! and keep it coming!

Hi Carol,

No question is stupid. How else do we learn something new everyday. LOL.

Evening , I know that you will probably get more information here that is

easier to understand, but it is still in your best interest to go see your

DE..person.. they can help with questions and things when you don't have anyone

else available, mine wanted me to go once a week, but I don't see the reasoning

behind that, so I only go once a month, and might extend that to once every two

if we don't start doing something besides putting me on a scale and asking how

much weight I will lose by the next time that I see her... I can do that on my

own or at my doctors (GP), I see him at least once every two months for a

mountain of other things that I have going on.. but get your first class out of

the way, they can help with portion sizes, and booklets and information..
