Guest guest
** Amy, pls wait to do anything until I get a chance to talk to you about this. I'll have some time to respond at some time tomorrow (Thurs)). Regards, CAtherine You have all been so caring concerning my 15 yo daughter coming off Zoloft (25mg). Please know that she has been on Zoloft for almost a full month. (Last time she was on Zoloft it was 50mg/day for 6.25 months before we started weaning in July 06) I understand that many of you have expressed concern in weaning too fast and dropping down in dosage too much. (I had planned to wean as she did last time-by halving the dosage for 3 weeks then that dosage every other day for a few weeks) After calling the clinic yesterday to let them know I would be weaning daughter. Nurse practitioner called back herself (usually it is her nurse). Daughter should come it, worried about the anxiety she is feeling, maybe we need to change the dosage or even try another med. I know I cant go back there for help with this. Her original prescription for Zoloft was 50mg, so I have been cutting them on the score line to give daughter 25mg/day (which was the starting dose- she never this time on Zoloft took 50mg/day). She has been on Zoloft (25mg) this time just under a month. I will look in the files/links for help too, but I am not sure I know how I would decrease at 5-10% and get equal doses with tablets. I have cut a few though this morning and can cut pretty equal looking amounts in quarters (12.5 mg) and can even cut what appear to be halves of those quarters. but couldn't be sure any of this is accurate doses. Do I call the clinic and insist on a liquid form of Zoloft (which they prob. wont give without seeing daughter). I have daughter understanding the reason for getting off Zoloft, but not sure if she would come away from another clinic visit still believing ME. Not sure where to go for help getting an Rx for liquid Zoloft?? Thanks for any advice Amy in MN _____ From: Withdrawal_and_Recovery [mailto:Withdrawal_and_Recovery ] On Behalf Of sjerrom Sent: Wednesday, December 13, 2006 6:22 AM To: Withdrawal_and_Recovery Subject: Re: new to group- intro " then 25mg every other day for 2 weeks- " I can't believe some maybe doctors say this crap! Amy, wean your youngster off at just 5-10% reductions, don't make another reduction until she has stabalised from the first one. From what you write, it sounds like your daughter just needs a bit of help in the way she views things, that's all , she doesn't need drugs at all, has she ever had any sort of Cognitive Behavioural therapy? Can you post a 4 day food diary for us? She desperately needs to stay away from things like sugar, white flour , caffeine, alcohol........they will all make her anxiety feeligns worse. Does she know why she feels " weird " , I mean does she know what is happening in her body when she gets panic attks, alot of the time this helps dissolve the fear? She will be OK Amy, I can't believe they put a 15 year old on Zoloft. Take Care of you and her Love
Guest guest
Hi Amy, I am in Canada so cannot recommend a specific pharmacist, but wanted to share this: I asked doctors, pharmacists and naturopaths in the very big city I live in if it was possible to get the liquid forms of several drugs I was on, and you know what they told me?NO IT IS DANGEROUS, DON'T DO THAT! (they preferred I got off them according to the drug company's recommended schedule, so that I would get sick nice and quick and run back to them handing over my money). (as an aside: I just about DIED when my psychiatrist said to me when I disputed the schedule for withdrawal he gave me that "but the drug companies will tell you to do it that way" - here is an intelligent man, who I had been seeing and trusting blindly for the previous 4 years of my life, and boom - in one second he revealed that he was, like so many other psychiatrists, an automon of the ever-lucrative drug companies - I now sneer when I see him writing with a lovely, expensive Wellbutrin pen, on a Cipralex notepad, probably sitting on furniture he earned by saving money not having to pay for his trips abroad since they're *on the drug companies*) Ok, sorry about the little rant, continuing on: I then just happened to stop into a place near my gym to get some gum, and overheard someone talking about how to take their liquid form of zyprexa. I was there for an hour chatting with the pharamacists, who told me that they do ANY drug in liquid form. Imagine! All I can say is keep looking, they are out there (in fact, maybe you want to call Apex Pharmacy in Toronto, Ontario Canada and ask them for a reference?) BEst of luck, and welcome! You are on the right track, trust us! Amy wrote: ** Amy, pls wait to do anything until I get a chance to talk to you about this.
