Guest guest
Today i weighed in at 339 (that's a 51 pound loss) since my starting the SBD on 4/19. My current goal is 300, my final goal is 220 (still overweight but then I will join a gym). Wow!!! Way to go!!! Sounds like you're doing great on this way of eating! I'm a new member, and have been lurking for a few days. Already I've gained all kinds of tips and great new recipes from you folks -- thank you!!! I will be finishing up Phase 1 on Sunday, then will start gradually introducing some fruits back into my diet - -can't wait for a banana!!!! And so far, on Phase 1, I've lost 12.5 lbs, so you'd better believe I'm highly motivated to stay with SBD!! Anita in TX
Guest guest
Getting a little tired of grilled food. I have to admit I want something fried. My 40th birthday is coming up and I want to indulge, on the other side of the coin i am so afraid that if i indulge i will spin wildly out of control so.....there is no answer. I still havent started any kind of exercise program though I plan on starting one this weekend. I just plan to go to my local high school and walk laps around their track. Today i weighed in at 339 (that's a 51 pound loss) since my starting the SBD on 4/19. My current goal is 300, my final goal is 220 (still overweight but then I will join a gym). Thanks for letting me pontificate.
Guest guest
Congratulations on your weight loss. 51 pounds since April is just amazing. Sheri > Getting a little tired of grilled food. Guest guest
, CONGRATS on your progress!! A question-what phase are you in? I just got a box in the mail. I ordered a few containers of a product called Keto Crumbs. They are a lo carb breading alternative. I will post how they tase. I will either pan " fry " them in a few teaspoons of OOil or I will bake them(Chicken cutlets that is). Do you have a really good nonstick pan? Many of them now are so good that you can " fry " using just spoonfuls of oil. Greatest luck to you. Robyn > Getting a little tired of grilled food. I have to admit I want something fried. Guest guest
Thank you all, I am just so impatient. lol I am in Phase 2 now Robin, though I stayed in Phase 1 for about 5-6 weeks. I have been very very conservative in Phase 2 though, meaning I am still in Phase 1. Does that makes sense? lol I have added fruit and grains back in my diet so sparingly that roughly 5 out of 7 days I am still more or less in Phase 1. Please definitely let us know about those bread crumbs. They may just be something I need to feel less guilty about indulging. Guest guest
, You may want to try some oat bran to bread some chicken and SAUTE (not fry) or bake in the oven. What's stopping you from making your own fried chicken using whole wheat flour instead of regular flour? That's about the only change you'd have to make. The rest is all allowed - spices, oil, chicken. Need a recipe? I've got a good one. -- Ann You spend your life fighting dirt, and when you die they bury you in it. hayakawa@... Guest guest
, I can see you having a Pavlovian response there ..... I can relate. I am thinking NOW about what I am going to make with my Keto Crumb chicken cutletts. I will let you know how they are. I got stuck on a " craving?? " last week. Luckily, we got slammed at work so I had no time to crave....and being " scrubbed " at work, I can't eat until the case is over even if I wanted to. Guest guest
that is wonderful news, you must be so proud of your accomplishment. You say you are only eating ph 2 approx 2 times a week. Im on Ph 1 1/2 too and Im finishing week 4 of PH2. Im going to try and make it to PH 1 3/4 ;o). I typically have either a cereal or a grain everyday and 2 fruit. Last week I wanted sweet potatoe so I omitted having a grain that day. Yesterday I had my cereal with a huge strawberry, snack was a banana and I was bold and had 1/2 a sweet potatoe with my supper. The past few weeks I have 3 different Sb variety pizzas, pita pizza, meatza (my whole family loved this one) and this week I made a whole wheat crust homemade pizza that was very good. It had spices and cheddar mixed right in the crust. Im a recovering pizza addict, Im sure the pizza delivery man must think we moved ;0). I guess the point Im trying to make is there is so much more variety now, my meals are no longer getting monotonus (?sp, sorry) you might want to try adding a little bit more to your diet. Don't be scared.
Guest guest
Thanks I just feel as though I still have so far to go.... Last night went to dinner with a friend at Chili's and I had their Southwest Cobb salad. Greens, black beans, cheese, egg, tomato, etc etc etc with the most delicious fried chicken cutlet very reminiscent (sp?) of KFC style coating. Comes with an avocado ranch dressing. It's the second time I've allowed myself such an indulgence since starting the SBD in April. Naturally I feel a little guilty today. lol -----Original Message-----From: Sent: Saturday, June 19, 2004 10:38 AMTo: South-Beach-Diet-Getting-It-Right Subject: Re: that is wonderful news, you must be so proud of your accomplishment. Guest guest
I wouldn't feel guilty. Hopefully that was all you needed to get past this craving so you can get back to business as usual. View it as a reward for all your hard work, after all you have shed 51 lbs which is a huge feat in my books. Next time your getting groceries take a look at a 50lb bag of potatoes that should give you a huge boost. I know how scarey PH2 can be but remember what the good doctor says abt staying on ph1 too long and failure stem from deprivation. I would really try to add another PH2 day or additional PH2 item. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy having a banana as a snack. I saw a recipe last night for a baked banana it sounded so yummy. I will post it later today. Guest guest
You can't really duplicate KFC BUT.... (dry) Good Seasons Italian Dressing (THE 11 herbs and spices!) 1 Envelope Lipton (or other brand) Tomato Cup of Soup 2 eggs, well beaten 2/3 cup milk Vegetable oil to cover bottom of your skillet; about 1/2 inch deep. 1. Combine eggs and milk. Set aside. 2. Combine flour with the Italian dressing and soup mix. 3. Dip chicken pieces in milk-egg mixture and roll them in the flour-seasoning mixture. Repeat procedure. 4. Guest guest
LOL, Im egg'd out too. I had an omlette this morning and had to force it in. Im so tired of eggs. I'v been making custard at night and having it for breakfast with ground flax on it, then one day last week I made a rhubarb custard and had it the next morning for breakfast. My favorite breakfast is a Danish Delight, a good disquise for an egg, lol. Since I like you so much I will share it with you ;0) Danish Delight 2 ounces LF cream cheese (4tbsp) 1 egg 2 tsp granulated splenda 1/2 tsp vanilla 2 tbsp strawberries sliced or any other berry 2 tsp granulated splenda, divided save 1tsp for whipping cream if using) 2tbsp whipped cream (i omit the whipped cream) In a small dish (dessert bowl), soften cream cheese in the microwave for 30 seconds. Beat well unitl creamy. Add the egg and beat well. Mix in 2tsp splenda and the vanilla. Beat well and scrape the sides of the bowl. Microwave for, uncovered on high abt 1 1/2 min ( I go for 1:45... just depends on micro you can always pop it back in for a few more seconds). Center should still appear slightly soft and creamy. Run a sm spatula around the edge and turn out onto a plate. Chill ( i pop i t in the freezer). While waiting for danish to chill. sliced up your berries (sometimes I do these first) and sprinkle with splenda and let stand until juicey. Add 1 tsp splenda to whip cream, if desired. Pour the berries and their juice over danish, then top with whipped cream. (i really don't find it needs whipped cream, and I kind of scared of whipped cream :0~ Makes 1 serving

Guest guest
Heatehr that sounds really awesome! Thank you very much. Do you cool it off until its room temp or until its well chilled? It sounds really great either way. I have to laugh tho, I totally agree with you on the whipped cream. On a special occaision maybe, but not as an every (fourth lol) day. -----Original Message-----From: Sent: Saturday, June 19, 2004 11:57 PMTo: South-Beach-Diet-Getting-It-Right Subject: Re: LOL, Im egg'd out too. Guest guest
I usually pop it in the freezer for 5-10. Depending on how hungry I am,lol just enough to chill it a bit, mine is never ice cold, lol can't wait that long. I had to fight the urge to have it morning. I only have enough cream cheese for 1 more. This morning I splurged and had a WW English Muffin with a LF cheese slice and 2 slices of Turkey bacon. Now that I have introduced grains back into my life Im not sure I could go ph1. I like being able to have a bowl of fiber 1 (1/2c) in the morning with some sliced berries on top. I love having a BBQ hamburger on a ww pita that has been 1/4 (1/4 for top & another for the bottom) even Dh like using pitas instead of buns. I like everything abt this diet but need a break from ordinary eggs. Although pickled eggs seem good. Maybe I will have a couple of them for breakie with my turkey bacon and v8. Now I must go and have my reward for exercising today (2 peanut butter cookies & coffee).

That's why the fudgecicles allowed are " no added sugar " instead of " sugar free " - the milk used in making the fudgecicles has lactose, a sugar. Tomato products are the same way. Yet dairy and tomatoes are allowed in all Phases. Check the list of ingredients for sugar, or any of the -ose ingredients. If they are there, there has been sugar added to the product. The product can then be avoided. But don't obsess with numbers. -- Ann You spend your life fighting dirt, and when you die they bury you in it. hayakawa@...
