Guest guest
You could have broken a small bone in the top of your foot. It does not have to be something drastic that caused this. I had a non-eds friend who broke a bone getting out of her car. All she did was put her foot down and it went. Prayers for releif of the pain, You may want to get it x-rayed if it is still bad tomorrow. Suzanne
Guest guest
Does a sprain require bruising? Here's why: Today I took to a class for big brothers and big sisters and as I walked back to the car (not far as I parked up close in the handicap spot) I sort of twisted my ankle. Not enough to really twist it, like stepping off a curb but just stepped a little wrong while wearing my Birkenstock sandals (still hot here in Florida). Didn't really hurt, just felt a little wrong. And when I got home ten minutes later, it was swollen. Not the swollen I am having with being late in pregnancy. And my left ankle/foot has hardly any swelling at all. I've been off my feet most of the day as my mother has been here making me not do things. But the right one is big. Mainly from the bones down, not up high. The inner side of my ankle & foot are sore & tender moreso than the right. And it is swollen up into my toes. I am staying off it and have been icing it but the swelling has not gone down at all. Normally when I have sprained these bird ankles they bruise badly. Could it be maybe a strain or something? I don't want to go to the ER or anything. I have my tylenol 3 to take but it isn't really helping the discomfort. I go to my next check up on Monday afternoon. Can I just wait til then and talk to my dr about it? I am one of those people who LOVED first aid class so I know what kind of things to do normally but they don't seem to be helping. Have not tried wrapping it yet - didn't know if that would be a good idea or not. Should I perhaps call the dr and speak with the person who is on call? If any of you have any ideas of what it is or what else I can do, I would appreciate hearing it! Guest guest
Right now, you should elevate the ankle and ice it to help reduce swelling, and assess for yourself if the ankle feels unstable. Watch for signs of impaired circulation, but if this persists, I'd see someone about it. Jill
