They discourage making judgments on farmers publicly on the list, so I may have to contact some of the members individually for their opinions. > I've visited about half of the farms in my area and know what's > going on with the others that I recommend. That's got to be the best way and I enjoy seeing nice farms. As time permits, I hope to do the same. <2007 resolution> > Our raw milk farmers aren't quite as excellent, but at least we have > really good meat. :-) Well, I should also say that at least we > have raw dairy legally & easily available . :-) I've been fortunate to get real milk and cream from a grade A Jersey dairy at only $5/gallon milk and $8/quart cream. Too bad it's not legal in stores in Texas like it is in California, but at least it's legal to purchase at the farm. > As far as frozen vs. fresh, the local farmer that I get my chickens > from automatically freezes them once they're processed. I've never had chicken that was frozen when processed. When we have frozen store bought chicken, it always seems to leak dark red stuff into the dark meat when cooked. My daughter takes one look at it and won't eat it and she only likes the dark meat (my preference too). I'll have to look for pastured organic chicken that's been frozen when processed and give it a try. Thanks,
