What are some good things to get to make up a SB trail mix.

Phase one and phase two.

Thanks in advance

julie

Nuts

Has anyone else noticed that the PLAIN nuts (I'm talking almonds in

particular here) are more expensive than the roasted, salted and spiced

versions? AND they are harder to find. Anyone have a tip re: finding plain,

unsalted, au natural nuts at a FAIR price?

I found some at SAM'S Club.......almonds that is, it is a large bag, much

better price than the grocery stores.

Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. The

fats-the good ones-and enables you to live quite happily without the bad

=============

Costco carries plain almonds for ~$1.50/lb in 3 lb bags. Also

Trader Joe's has excellent prices on all their nuts in many

different formats.

For phase 1, it will need to be nuts. Different types of nuts.. sunflower seeds, pistachios, peanuts, etc. You can put anything in there that you want, as long as it is on the approved foods list. Just be sure you stay within your daily nut limit! (15 is limit for most nuts, or 30 for pistachios)

For phase 2... you can add dried apples or dried apricots to the nuts. Avoid raisins.

Hope this helps!

According to the Good Fats/Good Carbs guide (which I recommend everybody buying), you can eat them as you like. Just make sure the ones you choose do *not* have added sugar to them. And, just watch your weight. If they cause you to crave sugars, or to gain, then cut back.

thanks.. that helps alot. for phase 2.. how many dried apples or apricots.. i know fruit will still be limited, but how does that effect the dried fruit.

thanks again

Try looking at the Costco/Sam's type of place, where they sell wholesale to

bakers and restraunteurs. Buying wholesale is cheaper than retail.

It's a good thing that the nuts won't go bad overnight! LOL

Apparently the SBDers have been buying up the nuts in the baking aisle at my

local superWalmart. Today I caught a fresh batch on the shelves and loaded

up. <g>

Thanks everyone!

I keep my shelled nuts in the

freezer. They last a long time

there.
