I really feel bad ... I'm short of breath with any exertion at all ...

I'm tired ... my hair stopped falling out after the last time she

lowered my medication. My muscles are tight and crampy ...

I haven't been at my goal weight in about 6 years ... I put on 100 over

the that time period ... I was just starting to feel better ... going

to the gym 3 or 4 times a week ... had dropped 25 lbs ...

and all of a sudden this just hit ... about mid August ... this is my

second set of blood work ... so I don't know ???

Well, Here's my opinion....

The total T3 is a worthless test... We need to know your Free T3

to see how you are converting. The Free T4 is a bit under where most

folks feel their best... the TSH doesn't worry me a bit...

The first question that I'd ask you... How do you feel? Feeling

good or depressed, energetic? Free of pain? Sleeping well?

Next.. how are you basals?

Next... how is your weight management? Gaining, losing,

plateaued? At your goal weight?

If you weren't feeling as good as you thought you should, I'd

have increased your dose by 15 mg. Have you chart your basals and come

back in 8 weeks.

That's just my opinion... just plan ole me... victim of non

functioning thyroid.

Suggesting an increase of 1/4 grain instead of reducing by 1/2

grain....

Ok ... I went to the doctors office and asked for the full results and

here they are.

Total T3 150 (68-173)

Free T4 0.8 (0.6-1.2)

TSH 0.28 L (0.34-4.82

I was on 150 mg of Amour ... and she sent me an RX for 120 mg of

Amour.

Look at the hair that you are finding.. if it has roots... it's falling out.. if it doesn't it's breaking off.... it's normal, after getting your thyroid up, for the new hair to start growing in and the old, dead, damaged hair to start breaking off from the new growth.... you start to lose more as the new stuff comes in... then as the new stuff starts growing in more you get alfalfa hairs sticking up... at least that's what happened with me.....

Talk to me about what you're doing... what is your med schedule.. what you're taking and when... what about eating... how many calories per day (roughly) and how many times do you eat?

I know.. some of this seems lame but little adjustments can help if your body is doing a lot of healing....

I'm not saying that your diet is wrong and your meds are good... but nutrition, bad nutrition, makes symptoms worse too.... Lets see what you can do on your own, now.... to help your body a bit more while we come up with a way to get your meds better... whether it's nudging your doc into being a little bit more of a healer, or going your own way and self medicating.

It gets so darn frustrating (hard time using a nice word there) when you feel so crappy and everyone around you starts judging... you know you don't feel good... you just want to feel better, but you don't know how... and you ask for help, for support, for understanding and you get this 'Oh sure' routine that just makes you feel that much worse.....

I'm still tweaking too.. I can't think of anyone here that is all the way 'there', we're all tweaking and striving to feel better... we just have to figure out how to do it the best way that we can....

That sounded lame.. I don't mean to sound patronizing.... honest....

Don't give up... lets find a way!

How is your doc about reading stuff that you bring in, is that a possible angle?

Run as far and fast from this doctor as you can because this one is a TSH worshipper. This doctor does not understand thyroid disease or even any of the lab values. Your dose has been cut based on the TSH, rather than the fact that your Free T4 is barely inside the range and is entirely too low for the majority of people. The only way I can see this is if you feel very very good at this point.

I agree with Topper. How are you feeling? After all, we take

medicines to feel well and have productive and healthy lives, not to

fit into some mathematiclly determined range and have neat charts

for the doctor.

The best thing to do is chart your temperatures to see what your

metabolic rate is. http://www.drrind.com/tempgraph.asp This was how

it was done for over 50 years before TSH tests and Ft3 and Ft4.

People had quite healthy lives back then.

Also, I think your T4 is low enough to make you feel quite bad. I

felt terrible at 0.7.
