Guest guest
Kim, I am going for my HSG as soon as af gets here too. Mine was painful the first time. My dr told me to take 4 ibrofren and hour before I go. He also gave me an antibiotic. My other dr never had me do that. I hope my HSG is good enough so I can have the lap. I am hoping that maybe my tube problem can be corrected. Maybe there is a chance we can still get pg naturally. At least now I will know whats going on so we can make an inteligent decission. I am glad there are others in our group in similar situations. Hopefully we can help each other. Pam
Guest guest
Pam, I know you are going through a lot right now. The idea of possibly not being able to cinceive naturally has to be really scary for you. I can't even remember what it is like to think that I could conceive naturally. I think maybe I could have before I had my lazer cone. I haven't seen any sign of fertile mucas since. Actualy before Dec. I didn't think I could conceive at all. I am so glad to know I can.And Pam, you have that knowledge too. The chance of having another EP with blocked tubes is pretty high. I know once you have had two EP's the chances go as high as 50%. That scares the crap out of me. I pray I never have to go through this again. And I also pray that your tubes are fixable. But I want you to know that even if they are not, you can and will get pg again! And again, as many times as you want children. Not being able to conceive naturaly doesn't mean that you wont be able to conceive. And with IVF your chances of getting pg are even higher than a regular unassisted cycle. You will go on to have children, I want you to know that.I really believe that. Kim
Guest guest
Kim, I do feel alot better after my appt Friday that I will have a baby. Even if that means IVF. I was thinking today that if my tubes are fixable maybe its worth a try naturally. If I have another ep I think I would want surgery instead of waiting so long with metho and go right to IVF. I think he wants me to go IVF because your chance of conceiving are 50%. He thinks I can't go natural because I had that cryo thing done. But last year I had that post coil test and I did get pg. Do you think you can have cm some months and not others. Because I don't always notice cm. Do you think you either have it or not? The thing that scares me the most is all the shots etc.. Its not even the money. I told my dh that IVF is probably cheaper than adopting. I think the main cost is retrieval and hopefully you only have to have that once. At first before I met with the re I thought no way could I go through it. Now after Friday I think I am excited knowing that I can have my own child. Guest guest
Jen -- Is there anything that could be causing this -- virus, something new she's been eating, something new in the environment, weather change, change in meds, new supplement??? There can be other much more subtle reasons for what happened -- things that you probably wouldn't find medically. Guest guest
Hi Jayd - another Vancouverite! In all honesty, I still had my birthday cake, but just " dialed " up a bit more insulin - it worked like a charm and was very tasty to boot (cappucino cheescake, yum). Guest guest
> Jayd, are you type 1 or type 2...where in Vancouver? Only type 2, thank goodness, but when I decide to have kids I will need to take insulin throughout the pregnancy - I'm hoping for one multiple birth so I can get it all done in one go That will be my chance to see how a type 1 lives, and it will no doubt make me very greatful that I am type 2 and very appreciative of what the people with type 1 go through daily. I am living in Chilliwack, but I commute 1.5 hours to Burnaby for work each day. I work up near Simon Fraser University on the side of Burnaby mountain. How about you? ~ Jayd
Guest guest
In some respects I am beginning to think that I may be the lucky one, being type 1. I get to eat anything that I want and adjust the insulin I inject accordingly. Of course, I still much count those carbs and there are still health and weight concerns with eating anything you want :-), but I've already found some great low carb, no-sugar chocolate (6g carb per 2 pieces) at the drugstore! The shots are not that difficult to administer, and I too have to go through multiple finger punctures per day - not my favorite part to be sure! I'm a downtown kinda guy - working in one of the monstrous high-rises, and living in a condo in the west-end. I so appreciate being able to walk to and from work - helps me get that exercise we all need. I have heard that someone such as yourself, who has diabetes and then gets pregnant, that there will definitely be changes to your routine. In one of the classes that I took, they were saying that there is really no danger for diabetic women to be pregnant - that is so nice to hear! I haven't heard of one (probably because I don't need insulin right now) but I want to be as informed as possible when I decide to start a family (in a few years). That is my motivation right now for the work-outs and the attention to diet. I figure, the more healthy I am when I become pregnant, the better. Yes, the doc said she would start me on insulin when I come off the pill so that my bs are well within the normal range and so that I can get the hang of it before adding the biological changes of pregnancy into the mix. I think, in some ways, being diabetic before is safer than just getting gestational diabetes during pregnancy. At least we are watching our bs for changes and are aware of the dangers. Someone who is not diabetic before could go undiagnosed for a while because they assume their symptoms are pregnancy-related, rather than reporting them to the doctor and getting help right away. I also have seen those sugar free chocolate bars at IGA and they have many varieties. I have tested okay after eating it. ~ Jayd

It's true, they have the strips that I use for cheap! Gotta love it. In a regular pharmacy, the going rate for any sort of strip seems to be $1/strip. With the strips, and the metformin, it's like I have a mini-mortgage on my health. ~ Jayd

Guest guest
I'm not sure about the lancets. TO tell the truth, I was given about four boxes free and I haven't needed to buy them in over a year. Guest guest
Women (and men too) are so difficult when it comes the time to move and start over. Maybe the fact that she is pregnant makes her more unreasonable...being heavy on the front side and having to run to the bathroom frequently can make you tired and fussy. I pray she will change her mind...for her sake and his...and the kids too. > to everyone who prayed for our oldest son to get a job. He has been > out of work since the end of May. I'll admit that the first thought in my mind was, " Oh no it's the Tamoxifen, " and I thought about stopping. Kimbell > I had a small amount a vaginal bleeding when I started taking tamoxifen. Guest guest
I take Tamoxifen and will for another 6 months but I wouldn't stop unless my doctor told me it was doing something bad to me...I did have horrible hot flashes aka power surges at first but they went away after about 6 months and I did gain weight but that is ok cause it is helping to keep the b.c. dragon away from my other breast. Any time you are worried about a medication, ask, ask, ask...and then if you trust your doctor, continue or stop it according to what he/she says. I also consult my pharmacist about all medications...they actually (should) know more about medicine than a doctor since that is their field of expertise. > > I had a small amount a vaginal bleeding when I started taking tamoxifen. Guest guest
I agree with you. I think the advantages far out weigh the smaller risks. It just really freaked me out when it happened and going in for another diagnostic test threw me for a loop. I am a research maven and find that it really helps me cope. My doctors and I have great lines of communication going which is so helpful. They get a call from me anytime I have a question.
