Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, this was my regular doc, he's pretty smart and has learned how to answer patients' questions without hurting their feelings. I trust him and just wanted to hear his experience with these meds - he would want me to see the cardio, if I wanted to make changes. The reply confirmed pretty much what I expected. I just wanted him to focus on the meds and no other excuses. I recall, that my cardio mentioned Lopressor as a med he would try next. I am the one who is hesitant because I worry about other side effects. How is your hair doing? I can definitely see more new growth than before. Now my hope is that it will 'grow up' and not fall out before. / > He pulled a slick one, eh, without truly answering your question, > trying to blame other things for the side effects. He was lost for words and the only thing Icould do is smile. He also got my blood results back and everything wasnot fine, but excellent! For those of you who are just starting and arethinking about giving up, don't, this works!I don't have a goal except what the book says when thebelly doesn't hang anymore, therefore I will continuePhase 2 for some time.I am just thrilled I had to share my ideas with thisgroup as this is the motivation I need, as well asrecipes.JoeReminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Guest guest
Hi, Joe -- First HUGE congratulations on your 40 lb weight loss and, better yet, amazing your doctor! (That always feels good!) I'm very curious about your statement: He also got my blood results back and everything wasnot fine, but excellent! Could you expand a little on what problems you're battling? I haven't officially started the SBD, but other than a 20 lb weight loss, I'm very interested in reversing an elevated cholestrol reading that I just found out about at my last doc visit. Even though Dr. A created this diet for his heart patients, I have only read his generic "improved" comments, and no specifics. SBD seems light-years ahead of Atkins for better heart health, but I'm still not quite convinced. Thanks much and Big Congrats again on your wonderful progress! Guest guest
I haven't introduced myself, just joined the group but am jumping right in here. I've been on the plan since October and lost almost 60 pounds so far. Long way to go yet. I went to my doctor a couple of months ago and she was was so thrilled with what I had done, and shocked. She noticed right when she walked in the room, which was amazing to me since I was in nothing but a paper gown and she hadn't seen me in months. When she saw my weightloss her eyes lit up. I had taken my book to her to show her what I was doing. She is now telling others about the plan. They did my blood work and heart beat and all that stuff. My cholesterol came down to normal, it wasn't "that" bad, but came down from 210 to 195. She said it would keep coming down as my weight does. Also my good cholesterol was way up and my bad way down. She was just thrilled. My blood pressure was also way down. (Don't know what it was or is. She just told me that it was way down.). She told all the nurses how well I was doing and what I was doing and they all came into the room to congratulate me and ask me about the diet. I was the highlight of the office for a good reason. It was cool. She also said that I have stopped myself from getting diabetes. Also a great thing. She wants me in soon so she can recheck my progress. She was going to also try the plan. Give the plan a try. What do you have to lose but weight and to get in the best shape of your life. I know I'm getting there. The doctor confirmed it. When she finds out all the stuff I was able to do on my vacation last week (and I still lost 3 pounds on vacation), she is going to be just thrilled with me. Can't wait to tell her. hehe Carol Re: Doctor's visit Hi, Joe -- First HUGE congratulations on your 40 lb weight loss and, better yet, amazing your doctor! (That always feels good!)
