Guest guest
HI all my name is cynthia and I had my surgery may 18,2002. I usually just read the posts but thought I would introduce myself. I know I should not think about the weight loss so much, but as i read these post and see some of these weight losses I can't help but wonder if I am doing something wrong. I started at 232 I am not 199 that is only 33 lbs in 2 months. another thing is I can eat much more food than just 2 ozs. my doctor only wants us to eat protien until we lose 75% of our excess weight. I am having a hard time with that also no veggies no carbs at all! by the way my surgeon had to surgery himself as did his wife and half his staff. I guess because of all the diet failures in the past I am so scared this will not work either. thanks for listening guys you are a great bunch of people. Guest guest
Barbara- I don't remember meeting you when you joined our list but I am thrilled at your weight loss and the #'s going down as fast as they have. Not only that but I know how wonderful it is to go from the almost 5's to 4's to 3's it is a miracle. You are doing great and each day is a blessed one. I relate only too well. I started at 525 and now I weigh about 260 give or take. It has taken almost 3 years and lots of ups and downs but with each day I pray to god that the #'s go down and not up at this point. I always want to smash anyone who says the GBS was the easy way out; little do they know that it is a life altering experience. The best. I don't sleep on my stomach but I have to position my hand so that my ear does not press against the pillow otherwise I hear my heart beating and I start dwelling on it to hear if it misses a beat. I also seem to get stronger beats about 4 hours after going to bed. I don't know how long this lasts but when I wake up 1 or 2 hours later it is beating softer again. I think it may have something to do with my motabolism burning off the last of the sugar spike that we get after eating. If you sleep on your back it is harder to feel or to hear your heart beats. Guest guest
Ken - In answer to your question about feeling AFib during the night I overcame most of the symptoms of being out of sync during the night by sleeping on my right side. I think I get AFib almost every night while sleeping but since sleeping on my right side it is less severe and I usually don't feel it at all. Just a suggestion. Bobby Atlanta (unknown) I have been dx with atria; fib I am on toprol and coumadin Has it worked for any of you Some consultants are recommending the toxic meds I am very scared of these other drugs Please any help will be appreciated <http://us.adserver.yahoo.com/l?M=231971.3069703.4522067.1261774/D=egrou pmail/S=:HM/A=1554463/rand=106506418>

Just my two cents, but I would ask your doc about tikosyn. As has been mentioned, it seems very good about restoring a normal heart rhythm for most people. Particularly as you are in afib most of the time and afib is interfering with driving, etc., myself, I would ask about it. You deserve to have a good quality of life, instead of having afib affect it.
