Guest guest
hi there~ if your husband loves chocolate milk: what about using pure cocoa powder and a sweetener of your choice? i used to love it made that way when i was a kid. you may need to heat a small amount of the milk to dissolve the sweetener if it's a dry granulated form, and then stir in the cocoa powder as well. whisk it if necessary, then add it to a glass of cold milk. hope that helps ~ susan > Good Afternoon! > > My husband will not drink milk. Guest guest
p.s. a couple more ideas just popped into my head: -honey and cinnamon -honey, nutmeg and a dash of pure vanilla -smoothie style drinks: for example: banana, fresh squeezed orange juice and milk mixed together is delicious! oh how i wish i could drink milk, that sounds heavenly right now... good luck ~ susan Is there any good, WAP alternative for the Nesquick or any other healthy flavorings to add? Guest guest
, THANK YOU!!!!! I can't wait to try the honey and cinnamon one for myself! THough my husband is a " healthy " eater, he indulges his 17-year younger wife by allowing me to spend $6 per gallon on " pet milk " and $3 per pound for wonderful REAL chicken adn $6 per pound for hamberger (now a rare treat). He will eat whatever I cook without complaint. He has terrible allergies, which isn't helped by the fact we have a furry Akita who is almost done blowing her winter coat, a cat and a rat! I just feel like if I could get the milk down him...it would help his allergies and prayerfully help our family to increase! Thank you again! It's not a magic cure-all that is good for everyone. I don't know what his exact objection is, but it might be worth listening to it. Especially if he's willing to eat most everything else you prepare. Why not try a good-quality vitamin C supplement for his allergies? Amla C or Pure Radiance C are good food sources of it and would probably be a relatively easy sell (since C clearly relieves allergies and it's just a pill to take). Guest guest
Would organic chocolate syrup do? Trader Joe's has an Organic Midnight Moo and Whole Foods has an Alaska brand. It seems that many of us with food allergies are either obsessed with the food or turned off by it. Especially since he has allergy issues already, those can often be linked with food allergies of some sort. There are a number of people at GFCFNN who have gotten sicker after starting NT because they started to eat lots of " it's so good for you " raw dairy. BTW, I'm not saying raw dairy is bad - it's can be an awesome food if you're not allergic to it. :-) Steph -- http://www.PraiseMoves.com The Christian Alternative to Yoga
Guest guest
hi mrs. bernstein, now i see that the milk was in hopes of curing your hubby's allergies... i will add my 2 cents as well. my allergy symptoms are actually improved by *avoiding* dairy (except for butter). i ate a lot of dairy and wheat as a kid, now as an adult i don't do well with either of those foods anymore. (steph, i should probably come over and say hello to the gfcfnn group, eh?) ~ susan > > I hate to be a buzzkill, but if he really doesn't like milk maybe > > there's a good reason for it. Guest guest
I like the Midnight Moo syrup available at Trader Joe's. I havent' bought this product in over a year, though. (We've drastically cut down on sugar intake.) So I can't vouch for the ingredients. I think it is just organic can sugar and chocolate but I don't know for sure. --- susan <thenaturalkitchen@...> wrote: > hi there~ > > if your husband loves chocolate milk: what > about using pure cocoa > powder and a sweetener of your choice? i used > to love it made that > way when i was a kid. > > you may need to heat a small amount of the milk > to dissolve the > sweetener if it's a dry granulated form, and > then stir in the cocoa > powder as well. whisk it if necessary, then add > it to a glass of cold > milk. > > hope that helps ~ susan > > > > Good Afternoon! > > > > My husband will not drink milk. Guest guest
I bought some (pasteurized) organic vanilla-flavored milk for my son who has chocolate allergies and it was really good. I realized the simplicity of it - just add a drop of vanilla and some sweetener to the milk and it tastes like vanilla ice cream! We've been doing it since for those times you get a sweet tooth. Yum! > > Good Afternoon! > > My husband will not drink milk. And it's not just an anti-raw milk thing. He will NOT drink milk...except... > > He wants me to make him " chocolate " milk with NesQuick. Guest guest
Add a few egg yolks or a banana and you'll even have a texture a lot like melted ice cream. -Lana On 5/18/06, haecklers <haecklers@...> wrote: > > I bought some (pasteurized) organic vanilla-flavored milk for my son > who has chocolate allergies and it was really good. Many ancient and well-developed traditions emphasize that different constitutions require different combinations of foods for good health. It seems to me that there are very few foods in those traditions that are deemed always good for everyone. For my own part, I've noticed consistently that my instincts about certain foods are right. If something helps me, I usually crave it once I've had it a few times. If it isn't good, I don't like it. (Very anecdotal, I know). Forcing myself to eat it because of some principled or intellectual idea of its benefit would be a mistake. But as I said, I don't know his issue with milk or anything about him, so my comments may not apply at all.
